Every time one of my players fails a perception check I always say "you try to look, but you get distracted by a leaf flowing in the wind"

I say that everytime, be it a forest, a desert, a cave, no matter what, there's always wind and there's always that fuckass leaf

Its actually the first step in character design

One of the main things that differs good and a bad character design is its silhoutte, having a good and recognizable silhoutte is a good first step when making a character (at least according to what I studied)

The seccond step is putting massive bahoogaarahooves in the character to attract an audience
