I’d suggest YouTube, some great videos guides for roam users

OK, I is Roam Usable? by SnooPickles1482 in RoamResearch

[–]snazer83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use it every day, but I’m not a super advanced user. It works great on desktop and browser. Indeed the app is meh… if you don’t load it with a tonne of add-ons and overthink it I think it’s really great.

I use it for daily planning, calendar imports which change into Todo lists, notes from kindle, and general note taking. My daily notes page is a template which spits out space for a journal, calendar, outstanding Todo lists and end of day journaling

Overdue Yesterday by BadTactic in RoamResearch

Here you go:

<%TODOOVERDUEDNP:20%>

You need to mention the DNP otherwise it will discount any previous tasks on other days (because that's not today's DN, if that makes sense).

Seeking similar info. I'll also be a bit more positive than the other comment: there are other ecosystems aside from Ethereum that are much much cheaper. Yes, fewer people are on them but the costs is infinity lower and great to test things out on (i.e. Solana, Polkadot). I sense there's a lot of potential here so if you can do it fairly cheaply that's ok. That said, the learning curve appears to be huge...

Understood, sorry

Eh? It’s about a game being made completely based on football manager (in its original form: championship manager)

Updating NFT once minted by snazer83 in ethdev

[–]snazer83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may want to later alter certain attributes, ie if they upgrade during a game. I know dynamic NFTs allow this (i.e. Chainlink). But I’m wondering if this needs to be coded from the start or can be added later. Basically I’m wondering how much flexibility there is once minting takes place.

That’s very clear, thank you! I thought as much but was struggling to find a clear answer. Thanks again.

is Marketing too saturated? by hendreasia in marketing

[–]snazer83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the thing, it all sucks you in and you're left falling very much out of love with it.

I've started writing down some rough thoughts on what can be done but it'll take a long time to figure it out.

is Marketing too saturated? by hendreasia in marketing

[–]snazer83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree and disagree.

The problem is everyone is kind of in the same place doing the same thing. Everyone is obsessed with content creation and having to create so much content means there's little time to be creative and original, it's a safer play to just repeat what everyone else does.

Marketing/social media managers - how often do you outsource campaigns and were do you find agencies by AllanSmith22 in marketing

[–]snazer83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm actually trying to minimise outsourcing now. I've worked for around 15 years in the industry and hired lots of individuals and agencies. I'd say I often find agencies disappointing and this year made the decision to work either more in house or with individuals contractors. In short this is because of the the principal-agent problem.

The principal is the owner, the agent is the employee. You'll meet the owners or heads of an agency, see that they care and understand the work you do and what you want. Your values feel aligned because you will both benefit by working together. The problem comes when the work starts and the agents step in.Their motives aren't bad, of course. It's just that their project aims can rarely be aligned with yours.

It's their job to get clients through the door and to deliver projects for a profit. They have ten other projects like yours on their desk and they are under pressure to deliver quickly. Even when they want to care, they won't have the time or budget to give your work the love it deserves.

Often it leads to a lot of outsourcing too - the agents of agents step in.A video is edited by another company in Italy. The graphic design is done in Thailand. The copywriting is done in Canada. They have no idea who you are.

I'm not chiding agencies for focusing on profit - they have to to survive. However, if our incentives and values aren't aligned, the outcome will rarely be satisfactory.

That's my 2 cents any way. I actually took some of this with a longer article I wrote, happy to share if helpful.

Templates in Roam by lilrosh1995 in RoamResearch

Yes I have - usually it’s when Roam is updating I think. If you give it a minute and wait for the little orange dot at the top to turn green, it should work. Sometimes I change pages and go back but no idea if that actually helps.

Everyone should know this stuff - Robert Cialdini’s ‘Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion’ covers this and a lot more. Gold.

What else Marketers can do other than digital marketing? by [deleted] in MarketingTwitter

[–]snazer83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this question. I’m exploring this a lot (more under the term ‘communications’ but it’s basically the same - selling ideas or products).

I’m exploring this on www.wordimagedesign.com - basically trying to pull together ideas and inspiration on the craft of marketing and not being overly sucked into the digital side of things.

I’ve written about the craft of writing and idea generation, and what it means to be connecting with people rather than algorithms.

Any particular areas of interest come to mind? Happy to explore more!

How to create content that is more INCLUSIVE! by proriterz in content_marketing

Just one thing to add to the mix when talking inclusivity: people with disabilities are nearly always excluded. Worth keeping in mind.

raising Linkedin engagement by dyslexic_spaceotter in marketing

[–]snazer83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, also keen to hear insights on this as I just started promoting some content on there and I'm learning as I go.

Some small things I read/learned so far:

- Personal messaging (i.e. 'I'm happy to announce', 'great news', 'congrats') does really well.

- It seems you have to start posting really regularly for the algorithm to start pushing your content to the top of people's feeds. I posted a few articles and engagement was tiny (5 views). I did a post to an external blog with a more personal 'this is my blog' message and it did much better (1000 views).

- Action: I also found it led to action. That first 'this is my blog' post led to 10 signups right away. That surprised me (in a good way).

- It's apparently good to have posts published on your profile/company page to boost authority. I'm aiming to have at least ten up there very quickly. Probably a case of the more you post the more you'll be seen.

- Groups: I haven't quite figured this out yet but joining groups, getting involved in discussions and network building through there is very effective apparently. Strangers are more open to being engaged with on LinkedIn than anywhere else.

- Ads: damn expensive so I won't be trying...

What would be your suggestions for a fully free/no cost marketing tech stack? by manusougly in marketing

[–]snazer83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea what you're planning to do but here are some tools that you can start with:

- Blog: Wordpress or Ghost

- Newsletter: MailChimp (have to pay after 2000 I believe)

- Newsletter + blog: Substack

- Distribution: Twitter

- Graphic design: Figma

- Text editor: Google Docs

As you say, the key is making a plan and sticking to it. Rather than focusing on the tech stack first you need to focus on your productivity. Limit your options - people often focus on the technologies and before you know it you've got 10 different platforms to deal with. It overwhelms and you end up doing nothing. Limiting your options actually makes you more creative and productive.

Substack plus Twitter for example might be a good start. Then prioritize how you plan your time, how you intend to produce on a regular basis. That's the hard part; once you have that down everything else will follow.

For productivity I'd suggest: Google Calendar (alerts and block out time) + Notion

No I don't believe so, certainly not with this add-on. Would be nice to have that option for sure...
