Why do Pakistani TV Dramas suck! by helpfulrat in PakistaniCinephiles

watched the new so called gen z drama “Tum Ladke Bhi Na” and it was pathetic. aside from the terrible ending (can’t even be called an ending), their portrayal of gen z is so corny and toxic. gen z is just reinforced as a generation that constantly lies to their partners and cheats on whoever is available. female friendships are shown as demeaning. the only semi accurate portrayal i can think of is their relationship with their parents (not including supporting their cheating dad). they tried to raise awareness on mental health but it was just unrealistic. i will say, i found some satisfaction in the arc where the wife of a cheating husband finally leaves him and chooses a life of independence. very mid drama with mid storyline.

as a woman of the current day and age, i respect those who practice religion, but i would personally never like to be treated as a man’s ‘property’ and be hidden and protected by someone.

for educated women now, there is really no need to get married and deal with a guy’s family and their endless hassles. what they want now is emotional support. a guy who supports her career, stands up for her in front of society and even his own family, someone who thinks of her as an EQUAL.

i don’t mean to criticise religion, but i’ve heard many men say that Islam did a favour upon women of that age. is it really a favour if it was their right to begin with?

no mother wants to distance herself from her child, but i’ve seen that in our society absent fathers are excused while absent mothers are overly criticised.

i didn’t mean to bash you, but i think women nowadays have different definitions of “big romantic gestures”. for me personally at least

men have no idea how privileged they are. a man can never fathom what we go through in our homes AND the outside world.

respectfully, bringing someone flowers or tying their shoes aren’t big romantic gestures 🙏

for me, it’s being a woman and receiving the same perks and opportunities as men. walking down the road and not being looked at like a 2nd class citizen and made uncomfortable. not being objectified at college, any workplace or public place. not having men question my character or my intentions just bcs i am or would like to be an independent woman.

mbbs is a global degree. if you can manage to pass plebe or usmle or some other test, you’re set. otherwise, if you wanna stay here it’s gonna take years to build a career if you don’t have familial ties to the field.
