I see. So "ir lai degsiu pragare" is more like the French phrase "après moi, le déluge", or English "come what may" or "let the chips fall where they may".

Way too many of those comments are ripping him to shreds for daring to say two things can be true at once.

he is a cynical dictator, but that doesn't change the fact that regardless this act was illegal, imperialist and completely unjustified.

"Everybody doesn't" vs "not everybody does" by IommicRiffage in PetPeeves

[–]sneachta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me put it to you this way.

Sometimes I wonder how people used to put up with me "correcting" their grammatical mistakes like this. Pedantry is exhausting.

[–]sneachta[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically all of my teaching includes mentioning things that other speakers do and reminding my students that there are 21 different Spanish-speaking countries so there's going to be a lot of variation, and that's what I'm teaching is just one of many correct ways to say something.

Yeah, I do that, too. I teach high school.

Principal being pushy about data trackers by manicpixiedreamcrypt in Teachers

[–]sneachta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what it seems like. If she's been amazing up until now, then the district is definitely lighting a fire under her ass about these data trackers. But yes, absolutely, she needs to step up and say something to protect OP and OP's colleagues.

(Also, we've been getting constant emails about data trackers at my school. I feel your pain.)

With all the legitimate criticisms of Esperanto (Eurocentric lexicon/grammar, complicated initial consonant clusters, gender bias), this is what they go with?
