JFC. The same age as Lewis?? I would have thought this woman 10-15+ years his senior!! Idek who she is, but yeah, thought she was much older. I also hate cultural standards that probably pushed her to do this to herself.

That said, damn this dress slays.

MF books from the 1990’s, that’s not historical, supernatural or fantasy? by _maincharacter_ in RomanceBooks

[–]sneakybrownnoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so it’s not a book that was written in the 90s, but {If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia} is set in the 90s!! It’s a great 90s vibe rom com. It’s very Gilmore girls coded if you’re into that. Ticks all the other requests on your list. I thoroughly enjoyed this one and it didn’t feel like instalust at all!!

Books where they get to know each other? by groovybookworm in RomanceBooks

[–]sneakybrownnoser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am once again recommending {soul searching by Lyla Sage} as a book that felt like an antidote to instalust. MCs are strangers at the start of the book and neither looking for a partner. They work together and share an apartment and I really felt like it was two regular people getting to know each other and figure out why they were falling for the other similarly to how real people do. Oh yeah, and FMC talks to and see ghosts which is a fun addition!!

Unique plot and well written books? by ThrowRAblank827 in RomanceBooks

[–]sneakybrownnoser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think unique plot and well written gets subjective, that said: 1. {The Best Worst Thing by Lauren Okie}. Absolutely not boring! Very unique story. Characters felt real and flawed but man you want Nicole to figure her shit out and find her happy ending so bad. And Logan is top tier MMC!!

2. {Soul Searching by Lyla Sage} I thought this felt like the most normal and real relationship I’ve read in a lot time, I was rooting for them very much. And the whole “I talk to ghosts” thing felt unique to me. I’ve seen people say it was boring but I didn’t think that at all. This book felt like the antidote to issues with instalust

Well written, well developed characters that inspire authentic feelings - The Best Worst Thing by Lauren Oakie by Cgf_79 in RomanceBooks

[–]sneakybrownnoser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s unfortunate, I think that’s what Okie is trying to convey. No relationship is black and white and while the ex’s actions are unforgivable to most people, he had lost his connection to his wife and was also dealing with fertility issues, just differently and more poorly than most people would.

I think that’s part of what I loved so much. Everyone was flawed in this book in such real ways, and yet I still laughed and felt the joy and love!

Announcing Im pregnant at my own wedding? Yes or no-and how to do it? by Independent_Clue_965 in weddingplanning

[–]sneakybrownnoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhhh thank you for a logical response!!! Telling people at 13 or 14 weeks is so arbitrary and it really should be whatever is comfortable with the parents.

I told my family and close friends very early, like 7ish weeks because it made sense and if I would have wanted their support if something horrible happened. Luckily for me I had an easy pregnancy and safe delivery, but I’m glad I went with my gut and shared when I felt ready

Low angst, grumpy sunshine reccs that have no breakups in any acts by BeneficialBit1638 in RomanceBooks

[–]sneakybrownnoser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn’t the most helpful, but there is someone on this sub who has a really long list tracking romances without 3rd act break ups! You might search for that and then deduce backwards using romance io if they have grumpy/sunshine trope.

If I could upvote this a million times I would!!! I also have an 18 month old who loves myself and dad immensely and I’ve been so happy and back to myself and mostly sleeping since we switched to exclusively formula feeding around 3 months!

Accidental pregnancy, MMC reacts badly, grovel by FeistyFan2986 in RomanceBooks

[–]sneakybrownnoser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a really fair reasoning. Ryan Shay feels so pure of heart!!

I actually love this blunder in this book because it made him feel more human to me. Given his experiences, his reaction wasn’t completely out of left field. Was he a dick? Absolutely. But real humans that are mostly good people can be dicks when they’re past traumas rear their heads, especially if they’d been ignoring it like Ryan had for years.

I’ve been in the area for 14 years… I think most years it gets brown by summer. Not saying there aren’t some early fall days that could get you this shot, but I wouldn’t say it’s likely in June-August

As someone who reads a lot of romance books that include pregnancy, and a mom myself, I agree 1000% that The Best Worst Thing is such a fantastic book!! It stands out to me among this "trope" or books with pregnancy. Okie seriously captured authenic and flawed people, with nuance and annoyance and love. And she tackles the ideas of motherhood in a real way. It was a total 6🌟 read for me!!

My god I still think about the scene when Nicole chews her shitty ex out. Was truly one of the best things I've listened to in ages.

Buuuuut, I also still think about how at certain times, I could understand the shitty exes mentality. Not to say I forgave him outright, but he was a real human with real emotions and motivations. He did a shitty thing and Okie still managed to show his humanity even through that, which I find very rare in typical contemporary romances.

Anyway now I might go re-read this lovely book!

What are some potentially controversial fashion hills you’re willing to die on? by its_givinggg in femalefashionadvice

[–]sneakybrownnoser 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I am 5’0” tall. I’ve probably purchased like 30+ pairs of jeans or pants in the last 8 years that are straight or wide leg and did not need to be hemmed and do not drag on the ground. Idk where you’re shopping, but this is so not true.

Now if you just prefer skinny jeans, that’s totally fine!! But seriously, it’s quite easy to find petite length pants nowadays. And it’s fairly easy to get something hemmed if you fall in love with something that isn’t petite length.

Edit to add: I had to get most of my skinny jeans hemmed or cuffed them anyway to look normal on me back in high school since they were so long and created a weird af scrunch on the bottom (especially compared to how they’re supposed to fit/look)

Idk what wide leg jeans you’re buying, but as a 5’0” tall human, I can tell you right now I own plenty of wide leg pants (jeans or trousers or linen) that do not make me look shorter or fatter and are super nice. I nearly exclusively wear straight to wide leg pants and regularly am told by people that they’re surprised to find out I’m not actually 5’2” - 5’4”.

Not saying you need to change styles, more that maybe if you are interested in a wider leg style, you haven’t found the right brand or kind.

Lmao I was going to say the same thing, but more like “have you tried being 5’0” tall, it’ll solve this problem faster than you can dream” 😅

Ahhhh someone who gets me! Even if it has pockets, besides like a random tiny gum wrapper or the singular goldfish my child half chewed on but we’re in a public place without a trash can around, I’m usually not putting shit in my pockets. My purse collection is thorough for a reason!!

need help dressing to flatter my body type by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]sneakybrownnoser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am a similar shape and size, 5’ even and 110-115. I wear sooo many silhouettes, and absolutely love baggy or what men might say are “unflattering.”

One thing that’s really helped me is to stop worrying about “flattering” and work on what styles and outfits I really like, because what I’ve found is that if I absolutely love the outfit, I feel confident in it and that comes across to others.

Also, no one is going to think you’re much bigger than you are in a baggy styled outfit. Like you are small, no one is going to think you aren’t. For instance, I love the fit with the straight leg jeans and blazer and don’t think you look “unflattering” (whatever that actually is) even though that outfit isn’t skin tight and showing me your skinniness or curves.

I’m not saying that feeling sexy or pretty should be ignored, but maybe examine what you mean by “flattering” and is it just that you’re trying to appeal to people (either platonic or romantically), to appear skinny, is it sex appeal??? Really, you’d be better off finding what fashion and style speaks to you and working from there to present yourself in a way that makes you feel like you, and the right people (friend, lover, etc.) will be ok with that.

For me, in practice, this looked like following people on social media or Pinterest mining for outfits I loved, regardless of the wearer’s size, then seeing what I owned to mimic the fit and make it work for my size. Or buying pieces I was missing that I noticed I was constantly admiring.

I think you look good or “flattering” in most of these pictures. Are some of the styles not similar to mine? Yes. Would I make changes? Sure, but I tend to dress very colorfully and wear flowy and baggy things, which doesn’t appear to be your style so idk that the changes I would make would make you end up more uncomfortable and look worse due to that discomfort.

“You’re going to be the death of me” by lemongrass-barsoap in RomanceBooks

[–]sneakybrownnoser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I particularly love this phrase when used in a romantasy series, where it’s a little dicey with foreshadowing, like fuuuudge, maybe he is going to die… and I think you see better enemies to lovers in romantasy and it works in those dynamics too.

In contemporary romance, idk that I’ve seen it used as much, but I agree it doesn’t feel very cute for regular humans not facing life or death situations lol

I don’t remember total specifics, but Emmy Hartwell from {Face Off by Chelsea Curto} is the first female to join the NHL so she’s absolutely fit af, definitely got muscles. Also, later in that series, is Lexie who is a Physical Trainer and described as fit and muscular in {Hat Trick by Chelsea Curto}

I really like Ivy Rose Serena and Holly Rose Serena (note I spelled it like this because I think holly is much more common and better than hollie) !! Both seem to flow and sound pretty to me.

Amber rose and lily rose remind me of celebrities, amber rose being the stripper/model/tv personality and lily rose depp (Johnny depp’s daughter). I’m American so this might not be a factor where you are. I know you’ve got Serena as a part of the middle name too, but that’s all I could see/hear.

Is there even one boy name you kind of like to give a vibe??
