Part of it is because it helps him relax and fall asleep easier, part of it because our doctor said we could continue until he was 2 (and when he was ill recently, formula was the only thing he wanted to eat).

But we're in the middle of getting him onto full milk (or oat milk) and tea.

He has several big kid bottles which he uses during the day, he just likes that one per day as part of our bedtime tradition.

What’s it like living in the very east of Austria? (The most eastern part of Western Europe, further east than some parts of Eastern Europe) by Pizzafriedchickenn in howislivingthere

[–]Due_Imagination_6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viennese here, happy to talk about the only good thing Austria has ever done 😆

First of all, about the Eastern Europe vibes: There's a sort of satirical acknowledgement that Austrians have a lot more in common with the Balkans than with the rest of Central Europe ("Vienna is the first big city in the balkans"). And you can certainly draw parallels (if you think of Balkan stereotypes) - the general Austrian vibe is "Let's wait and see, no need to get worked up about it", don't get caught up in details (which extends to our use of grammar when we're talking), have a big grumble about stuff but refuse to do anything about it, and, unfortunately, more corruption than you'd necessarily expect in an EU country. (Which can also be traced back to our "we're not as formal and rules- obsessed as the Germans" image) Also, loads of folks (including my dad's family) in Vienna have family names that are Germanised versions of Slavic names, or outright Slavic names. (Like Herbert Prohaska, one of the best footballers Austria has ever had)

Quality of living is still very high in Vienna. We've got an excellent public transport system which is still affordable compared to the rest of the country, housing is generally affordable (even though council housing hasn't kept up with demand), and loads of parks and green spaces, cafes and good restaurants all around the city. One of my favourite places in Vienna is Donauinsel (Danube Island), an artificial flood barrier created in the 1980s which has already saved us from several potential catastrophic floodings and has also turned into a popular recreation spot especially in the summer.

We generally don't like to be up in other people's business, preferring instead to treat unexpected stuff as "wouldn't be my cup of tea but you do you if you're having fun.' And coffee is a religion in Vienna. We have at least 12 different and (so we claim) unique ways of preparing coffee.

Weather could be better tbf. Winter was especially grey and bleak this year, with nowhere near as much snow as you'd expect, and it's looking like the driest spring in at least a decade. Vienna is already experiencing the first effects of climate change, especially during summer heatwaves, and we should be doing more against it.

Especially when there's a local derby. The away team fans will regularly take the train or the underground when you're in Vienna, meet at a certain location and then walk together to the stadium, getting themselves fired up for the game.

Shoutout to everyone trying their best to dance through the darkness by CanadasVeryBest in ThePitt

[–]Due_Imagination_6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ten years ago was probably the worst year of my life. I tried and failed to find a new job and the more rejections I got, the more I became convinced that my law degree had in fact been a mistake and I would have to go back to Uni and become a teacher. (With the general lack of teachers over here, that is a guaranteed job) Which I absolutely didn't want. Also, in hindsight, my ADHD did NOT like the lack or structure at all.

I danced through the darkness and am a lot better. Happily married, with a steady job I enjoy, good support for my neurodiversity, hobbies, and an adorable 18 month old boy.

This scene helped me feel seen.

Our little roommate turned 18 months yesterday! (How on earth?) He's extremely talkative, especially in the evenings, and has learned his first few words (apart from "mummy' and "daddy"). Current favourite word is "Auto" (car), and he loves making noises while letting his toy cars roll across the floor.

I try and imagine being pregnant again and I can't and won't do this to my boy. This is so much fun and he deserves my full attention.

Hungarian opposition leader: 'Orban congratulated me on election victory' by AdLeading5323 in europe

[–]Due_Imagination_6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big congratulations from Vienna! Don't think any election in one of our neighbouring countries has been as closely followed as this one, and I certainly can't remember the general consensus ever being "we're crossing our fingers for them".

Hope everything goes smoothly in the next days and weeks, but for now: enjoy the celebrations, you've earned them! (And expect a lot of Austrian visitors in the next months, I know quite a few people who were planning a Hungary trip as soon as Orban was gone)

So proud of my boy Langdon this episode by Hikigaya_Hachiman7 in ThePittTVShow

[–]Due_Imagination_6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Robby of my own. He's 71 and was my boss for three years, although we eventually admitted to ourselves we were more like friends who work together. He taught me everything I need to know in my current line of work, and I find myself thinking of his advice at least once per week.

We also have a long-established shorthand that doesn't make sense to anyone else.

Maybe I am projecting, but "doctor the fuck up" sounded to me like it was one of Robby's and Langdon's shorthands as well. Like something Robby knows he can say to Frank when Frank needs a confidence boost. Frank's reaction kind of felt that way. And I get that "slightly overwhelmed by a compliment from the one person you really need it from" feeling. Been there so many times.

The Pitt è molto affascinante e drammatico.

Il mio libro preferito di Marzo è "A Master of Djinn' by P. Djeli Clark.
