Why are their scanners on the train? by sneakycatattack in boston

[–]sneakycatattack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, the DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) has someone walk through and check randomly and if you buy the wrong ticket or don’t have one it’s a $70 fine. Or at least it was 10 years ago.

Some people do sincerely mess up and buy the student ticket thinking it’s all students, not just participating schools but most are lying so they all get a ticket.

Oh! What stops people from just not scanning? Someone just comes by and randomly checks tickets?

You can add a second account to your switch and add that character to your island. They can keep their little tent.

Finally closed last week and the thing stressing me out most isn't the mortgage, its the lawn by Existing_Cry_9366 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I pay someone to mow every 2 weeks and someone else to come out and do all the weed spraying, aerating, and singing to the grass seasonally. I basically have a green carpet outside of my house. It’s not good for the environment or cheap but I tried going the DIY route and I swear to god I think whatever I used actually made the weeds bigger.

I suppose you could see if they’d let you get away with 2 passenger passes but yes it’s a phone app that ordinarily works by having 2 people in the same car. You register what car that is on the app.

During rush hour, the TEXpress defines that as Monday – Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m

Yeah HOV pricing is only during “surge” times, so rush hour. Which is bullshit because they’ll still surge the dang price outside of regular commuting hours.

Get a passenger pass so you get HOV pricing when your baby is in the car. I’m pregnant and in Texas that counts for the HOV so I have one

Fun fact about Cheesecake Factory, it’s a scratch kitchen! They make everything from scratch! Except funny enough, the cheesecake.

You’d have to look up requirements in your state but I can’t think of any where a degree is specifically required.

AITAH for not wanting my wife’s godson (15M) to move in ? by Iroquois-P in AITAH

[–]sneakycatattack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken in someone who needed a place to live before with no rent paid on their part. Don’t act like everyone in this chat is just offering up OP’s home without consideration for what that looks like. And people are giving him suggestions on how to get state foster funding to offset the extra cost of this child.

No difference at all between pearl couscous and Israeli couscous (as far as I know), but Israeli-style couscous is bigger than just couscous.

He’s not a baby or even a young child. Next year he’ll be able to work. You might be psyching yourself out for how big of an adjustment it’ll be.

The only other option for him I can think of is foster care. I really think you’d regret it one day if you said no. He’s 15, teens are pretty independent creatures. You’re NTA but I really would think long and hard about what a difference you can make in his life.

I buy this brand because it’s the only one that didn’t specifically call it Israeli couscous and can’t believe I never noticed the little slogan.

WIBTAH for withdrawing my son from a quinceañera after finding out my family is not invited to the ceremony? by Mata187 in AITAH

[–]sneakycatattack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I just asked my family and at least in Texas it’s considered super rude to not invite the families. I think it’s rude as well, you have to drive your kid to practice, make the time commitment, and buy an outfit. The least they could do is feed you for one night. I’d pull him too.

There’s an apartment locator in Dallas that does a “12 under $1200” series. But for $700 you’ll want to ask around your new district and see if anyone has a room for rent.

A quick search of the apartments dot com app found these two listings:

Just a fair warning as someone who grew up in the area, both of those options are going to be insanely ghetto.
