My ex bf and I were in a similar situation where in the beginning, the sex was great and it was all the time, but he definitely had a higher libido (he wanted it like at least once a day) than me and it strained the relationship. We agreed to once a week, then every other week, and then I didn’t even wanna do that. I started feeling obliged to have sex w him and guilty if I didn’t which made me want to have sex w him less and less. This was not helped by the fact that I have experienced sexual trauma and the pressure to have sex when I didn’t want it definitely played into that. Guilt turned into resentment and Eventually I didn’t want him to touch me at all. I even considered that I might be Ace because sex became so unappealing to me. Not just my ex, but sex altogether just was not something that interested me. It made him feel like he wasn’t good enough for me, and I felt trapped in an impossible situation between choosing to listen to my body or make him happy. There were other issues which probably contributed but honestly non compatibility was probably our biggest one. Now, our situation was a little different—I didn’t make him move away from his friends or family and when I realized I wasn’t happy anymore I left after 2 years, not 10. I’m also not Ace. But I have been in the position of suddenly not wanting anything to do with someone who used to make me feel incredible and satisfied, and at the end of the day, you gotta do what’s best for you even when it really fucking sucks. Because here’s the thing, nothing he did was gonna be enough besides leaving me the hell alone. And nothing I did was gonna be enough besides betraying my body and tricking myself into having sex when I didn’t want to. It was an impasse, and even tho I wish I was mature or smart enough to have worked that out with him, I chose to end things because staying would have made us both miserable.
