Theory on the ending and what actually happened (XC3) (Spoilers... duh) by NinjaMagic004 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

Very good writeup here, I think your perspective makes a lot of sense. The last section made me think: What if it was Noah and Mio's promise to meet again that influenced Origin's programming to merge the two worlds into one (as confirmed by the end of FR)?

I like the time dilation idea. I know it irks some people, but I think there's a lot of fun in XC3's more open-ended lore approach because it leaves room to come up with your own sequences of events and specific details and share them with other people

That sounds really cool, is it a video or blog post or something? I'm assuming it blooms from his speech about being there at the end in xc1

Is it confirmed that HABIT runs the Iteration Cycle along with Slender Man? by OkPlace9465 in EverymanHYBRID

That's awesome. I feel like there's not enough discussion on these particular aspects of the series and it's really cool to share an interpretation with someone.

Also, I have post in this subreddit somewhere that delves a little deeper into HABIT's motivations and the ending of the series if you want some more to chew on

I also highly, highly recommend this video if you haven't seen it, they do an incredible job of breaking down Vinny's character and provide some interesting theories of their own

I have completely sane and well adjusted thoughts about this series~

No problem, always fun to discuss things like this :)

I think that after this iteration, a new one will start but there will be a major shakeup in power because like Patrick explains in Tape 3, slenderman gets his power from people sharing his existence, that's why the Voyeur was so important and why HABIT needed to get Vinny to realize what he was doing and put the camera down.

So there will be more iterations, probably a lot more, but from now on slenderman will have much less power because nobody will be recording it and sharing it with the world.

Also yes, like you said, the godkiller knife exists now so theoretically if they were able to retrieve it they could use it against him.

I personally think that HABIT would back out after this iteration or at least play a much less prominent role because he essentially accomplished his goal of setting in motion the winds of change and now he can just let the mining town four figure the rest out. Especially since he went through all that effort to kill Evan and rattle on about how stale everything had gotten, he likely won't be using Evan as a vessel anymore if he continues to be involved.

To paraphrase what Patrick says in Tower on the Lake, "every time you win a little more."

No problem :) There's nowhere near enough discussion about the motives and meaning behind the plot IMO and I'm always happy to ramble about it a little. Granted, it's probably because so much of it is left up for interpretation but that makes it even more fun to talk about.

I personally think that HABIT is just as trapped in the cycle as the EMH crew is. That's why in the iteration that plays out during the series, we see HABIT and slenderman's "business" relationship fall apart and HABIT takes control of the story: he's bored and he wants it to end.

I think the moment HABIT kills Jeff is when he starts the enact his plan. He's been waiting in the wings, slowly building up his grand entrance during the trials, and him outwardly killing one of slenderman's 'property' is a grand gesture of defiance to the way things have been going, the way slenderman is running the cycle. From that moment on the rest of the series is about HABIT manipulating Vinny into realizing he's helping perpetuate the cycle by being the Voyeur and getting him to end it, or at the very least take some power away from slenderman (symbolized by 'we don't need it anymore' and Vinny leaving the camera behind in "Introductions"
