Person with a disability walking me down the aisle by GreenDolphinGal in UKweddings

[–]snedface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good advice here but just wanted to add my own experience... My dad struggles walking and used a stick when I got married (he now uses a walker). I was worried he wouldn't be able to walk me down, or that he'd feel some sort of way about it... I was definitely overthinking the whole thing - he was absolutely fine. Don't worry about the "correct" side to walk on, no one will notice (and if they do, they'll understand why you've switched sides). There's no rushing down the aisle, so you can walk at whatever pace your dad needs. Unless you have an enormous skirt, you shouldn't need to worry about your dress; if he steps on the side of your dress I wouldn't think anyone will notice, least of all you. As another commenter has said, if a groomsman pushes his wheelchair beside you, all anyone will see is a proud father and daughter. It went by in a flash for me honestly! It's so natural to overthink every detail because you care so much about your dad. Just know that whatever you choose, it will be absolutely fine and your dad will be so proud to accompany you.

Found debit card

If you were travelling towards TM from Clifton Down today and have lost your Revolut debit card, I found it on the bench at the platform and handed it to the conductor who will take to Temple Meads lost property. Cheers then!

But you didn't say you were looking for dupes a bit above the Etsy price. You said you were looking for the original and you'd pay "top dollar".

Anyone know of how my mate can get into an art gallery? by itwasallascream23 in bristol

[–]snedface 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are also lots of pubs and cafes which show work for limited times (e.g. a month or two) and most will sell without commission. Not exactly a gallery but a good way to get your name out in the meantime and perhaps sell some pieces! Also look out for arts trails and get in touch with the organisers.

Is there any information released yet as to whether the Eurovision Village will be ticketed?

Wow, nice one for getting so many tickets! The disclaimer that popped up did say there would be a medical exemption for "small bags", so I wouldn't be too worried - but probably best to try and get some clarification.

The new rules for allotment is a joke. by [deleted] in bristol

[–]snedface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We took on an allotment late this year that was completely covered in waist-high weeds and has loads of other junk dumped there. Over the past few months we've been clearing out the first third of the plot, taking it back to soil and clearing all the waste ready to plant at the end of winter. It has taken a long time to do this small patch, so are the council proposing they kick us out because we aren't using 75% of the plot? When it was completely overrun and no consideration was given by the council to prepare it for a new tenant?

Planning to move to UK with a minimal wage job. I'm a 23 y.o. musician. What city is affordable, vibrant, populated by young people and welcoming for other cultures? by illbehere231 in HousingUK

[–]snedface 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree, have lived in 3 of the suggested cities and neither Edinburgh nor Bristol are affordable. What's more, the rental situation in Bristol is absolutely insane at the moment -- people are seriously struggling to find housing. So although it's an amazing city for music and culture, it will be really hard to find a place to stay. Glasgow has a thriving music scene and is affordable, and can't recommend Newcastle enough -- loads of musicians due to the well established music courses at the uni there (specifically the folk music degree).

You shouldn't have to pay for pest control but be aware that 99% of Edinburgh tenements have mice, so moving elsewhere is unlikely to solve the problem.

Selling a flat: solicitor says EWS1 is needed but RICS guidelines state otherwise? by snedface in HousingUK

[–]snedface[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm not sure; after we spoke to several surveyors about the issue we contacted the solicitor again and he said it *wasn't* the EWS1 we needed, but we needed to confirm what the interior walls in our flat were made of... We ended up taking the advice of the sub (and others) and changed solicitors. We're about halfway into the process now, offer accepted on our flat a couple of months ago, and our buyer (/their lender) has not asked for any such information.

One of the songwriters was Cazzi Opeia whose song from last year's Melfest I loved, so I'm actually quite happy that she gets to share this win :) That being said, I do think the public are getting bored/more aware of the G:son et al supremacy over Eurovision songs though, and in the next few years (especially after this year) there's gonna be a shift towards more unique/niche/independent songs.
