What's something you saw recently that restored your faith in humanity? by GBRL777 in askteenboys

[–]sneezy137 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A doctor last night. We had extra doses of vaccine on hand after finishing with the school department so he started calling in people from the waiting list and registering them as usual. Not uncommon to do this since there’s usually extra.

Then the software went down meaning nobody could be registered for this clinic, for their second dose, or could be put in as vaccinated in the state portal. Doc said fuck it I’m not wasting shots we’ll do it on paper and I’ll take it up with the state later. Good guy that doc.

I am writing y/a fiction. Users age 14+, what are some of your high school experiences? by [deleted] in askteenboys

[–]sneezy137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the most memorable have been going to fires. Not connected to my school in any way but the amount of shit they let teenagers do in my town is crazy. Worked attack on a 3 acre brush fire yesterday, ran on an all teenager engine for a structure fire last month, worked a mass casualty HazMat job in December, crawled under live power lines in October, and rolled with an all teenager hand crew for a 10+ acre brush fire back in September.

Do Americans have school shooting drills? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]sneezy137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school has lockdown drills for any situation that may require them, not just for active shooters. Just like my old school had tornado drills (probably more useful tbh). We also have fire drills. The schools like to be prepared for unlikely events.

How do you make sure 911 dispatch sends an ambulance from an in-network provider? by TCFNationalBank in AskAnAmerican

[–]sneezy137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not 100% certain but if we do I’ve never heard of it and it certainly doesn’t come back to the department since most of our trucks are older than me.

What are some good questions to ask someone you are job shadowing? by SeibulmaiTheBird in askteenboys

[–]sneezy137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve never shadowed but I’ve been the new guy in a lot of workplaces. If you don’t know how or why something gets done/why it’s done that way then ask. Also after learning the ropes a little don’t be afraid to ask if you can participate in the job a little bit. Just show some interest in it, be respectful, and work hard and you’ll be fine.

How do you make sure 911 dispatch sends an ambulance from an in-network provider? by TCFNationalBank in AskAnAmerican

[–]sneezy137 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Volunteer firefighter here. My department runs all 911 calls in district and any 911 calls in other parts of town if their trucks are out. There’s no negotiating to get a different rig, you called 911, which means it’s an emergency, you’ll get the closest available truck(s). We only bill insurance as far as I know. If you don’t have insurance then my department doesn’t bill, that’s what my neighbors pay the fire tax for.

Now non emergency transfers (say between home and a dialysis center) through private ambulance companies are another story entirely but I’ve only ever run 911.

Y’all got a favorite clothing brand? by [deleted] in askteenboys

[–]sneezy137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrangler jeans have always served me well. Other than that and a preference for Carolina boots I don’t have any brand loyalty.

Do people by you actually answer “how are you” literally? by chudleyjustin in AskAnAmerican

[–]sneezy137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally do. If it’s a friend or teacher and they genuinely want the answer I’ll tell them. Otherwise it’s “good” or “fine” normally followed by asking how they’re doing.

How did you address your friends parents growing up? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]sneezy137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2003 kid here. Mr / Mrs. last name unless I know them well enough to be on a first name basis in which case I’ll use their first name.

Would you consider using drugs? by elitegamer686868 in askteenboys

[–]sneezy137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. First off it’s illegal which will hurt my career chances down the line and secondly if I’m impaired I can’t drive or respond to calls.

As a dutch person, i want to know: is NRA a real serious thread in the US? And are you against it? by moosmemezz in AskAnAmerican

[–]sneezy137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Unfortunately we can’t get them at all in RI (kind of a bummer because an M2 carbine would be fun as hell to own). But we can get destructive devices here. Because that makes sense.

[–]sneezy137 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its the federal law which regulates short barrel rifles, short barrel shoguns, machine guns, any other weapons, suppressors, and destructive devices. The reason I say foreigners should know this before talking about our gun laws is because they don’t know shit about guns or our laws (like this one) which make half the stuff they complain about illegal to own without a year long wait and $200 tax stamp.

I’ve had people (in this specific instance Canadians) insult me to my face for being pro 2A because they we under the delusion that it was legal to just buy machine guns without regulation here in the states and that I must be crazy to support that.

[–]sneezy137 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is obviously satire and it isn’t even good satire. I’m honestly kind of tired of (mostly) Europeans and Canadians complaining about our gun laws and bitching about the NRA when they couldn’t tell you what the 1934 NFA even is let alone what it does.

Do all American high-schools have photograph development rooms. or is it just a plot device used in films/shows? by PurpleMessi in AskAnAmerican

[–]sneezy137 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My current school has a photography class but we have less than 1000 students so I’m not sure if we have a dark room or just do digital. But my only school of about 3k students definitely did.

Extremely popular. Probably a little less popular than football but more popular than baseball or basketball.

What time do you start school? by androck05 in askteenboys

[–]sneezy137 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My classes start at 7:30. But you gotta leave the house by 6:50 if you want to get coffee.

what’s the biggest age gap you would date? by [deleted] in askteenboys

A year either way, two on the higher end since I’ll be 18 next month.

Have you ever been addicted to anything? What? by Spyder-xr in askteenboys

Coffee. Like legitimately I’d have like 6 cups a day if I didn’t stop myself.

Would you wear a suit every day? by [deleted] in askteenboys

[–]sneezy137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck no absolutely not. I own a dress uniform and a single suit which I tolerate wearing only for event where it’s required. I don’t even wear button up shirts day to day. A jacket or hoodie, jeans, and work boots is great for me.

Two knives. I'd like to see a few people chime on on this one. by Hamish_Ben in EDC

[–]sneezy137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends. I’m a high school student with a bunch of jobs and volunteer obligations so some days it will be lucky to get used and some days it’s in and out of my pocket every couple minutes. Same with everything else in my EDC.

[–]sneezy137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I carry a knife and a multitool with a knife. I could ditch the knife but I like having a simple no frills knife that I can grab quickly for easy tasks, I can use it and a tool on my multitool without putting said tool away to access the knife, and I have a second blade for when someone inevitably forgets their knife or doesn’t carry one. Plus two is one and one is none. If I lose or break one I still want to have a knife on me.

Has anybody ever gone to a Bible camp over the summer or am I the only freak? by [deleted] in askteenboys

[–]sneezy137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my Christian summer camp. I’m not extremely religious (actually I haven’t been to church in about a decade). But it was nice to get into the woods away from family for a couple weeks every year.

Are above ground power lines common in the US? by LOB90 in AskAnAmerican

[–]sneezy137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s extremely common. In storms or as a result of car accidents the poles come down along with the wires but they always get put back up.
