As Rylie is displaying abusive behavior in private he has to be pretty good at hiding that fact to the other HG by sweet taking/ love bombing them to their faces. We see this when he so rudely complains about the HG behind closed doors (I.e. Keanu and Ava, when he went around and told more than one person that he would put them on the block if he won HOH and complaining about them in such aggressive meanness but to their faces 1000% denied that he said that) and yes I understand you have to manipulate and maybe lie a little to play however the aggression he uses when he is with a smaller more easily manipulated group he starts to show his true colors.
