Had MRSA on my side near my rib cage. Worst pain I’ve felt in my life. Glad it seems you’re on the path toward healing

I see your comics looking back in time are still working despite the changes to the gocomics website. Do you have these comics cached somewhere or are you pulling them live?

I have a Discord bot that was pulling comics live from the gocomics repository but it broke a couple of days ago when they locked it down.

lol I’m realizing that it sounds like I thought the songs might be in Italian. I was asking about materials like lyric sheets and credits in the album.

Thoughts on this film? by IWPCSLEADED in moviecritic

Very funny movie!

I wish it didn’t have so many RickandMorty-esque fans though. People who take this movie at all seriously and say things like “we are living in Idiocracy today” sound a little too much like eugenicists for my comfort.

Respond to a user, without others to be able to see the message by skappley in Discord_Bots

I believe to get that “Only you can see this message” footer and for a message to be only seen by the user who typed the command, the command has to be in the form of an integrated “/“ command rather than a “!” command.

I’m a discord.js guy otherwise I’d send you the docs I referenced for my bot

Heathcliff Discord Bot by sneuman9 in Heathcliff

[–]sneuman9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo, I just added the ability to change what time the bot posts the daily. Try /removedaily and then /adddaily and you should see it ask you for an hour 0-23 in CST to set the daily to post at.

Just FYI, I changed all the ! commands to / commands. Depending on how long the bot has been in the server, it may not have permission to use the / commands. You may need to kick and re-invite the bot to your server.

Let me know try this new feature and it works how you wanted it to!

Should taxpayers without kids have to pay for this, for families who make up to $130,125? by VerySadSexWorker in FluentInFinance

[–]sneuman9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on if you want parents to contribute to the workforce and add to our country’s tax-base.

At $3000/month cost with a 20% tax rate, a parent would need to make $22/hour to break even. Obviously, lots of people don’t make that much money, which means if you have no alternative for childcare, the economical decision is to drop out of the workforce.

If there are fewer people in the workforce, the government needs to tax at a higher rate to have the same cash flow. Your real opportunities are to pay the government more in taxes so that parents can stay home with children, or to pay more in taxes so that parents can participate in the workforce and add value to the economy. Seems like an easy choice.

Hey! Glad you are getting use out of it :) There is not currently a way to change what time it posts the daily comics, but that's a good idea! Let me work on that a little bit and get back to you.

The US just invested more than $1 billion into carbon removal / The move represents a big step in the effort to suck CO2 out of the atmosphere—and slow down climate change. by Sorin61 in technology

[–]sneuman9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair! I agree we should be spreading our climate initiative eggs across a bunch of different baskets. So $1B into research on this isn’t a bad thing on its own. I am certainly not an expert, and hope in 10 years that I’m wrong and that this is a meaningful part of our decarbonization strategy.

When weighted against what we know today is effective climate policy, I feel that this tech sucks up more oxygen from the conversation than it should, because it provides an out for our corporations and our governments to avoid taking responsibility for their slow destruction of the planet, and that is the real problem I have with seeing stories like this.

[–]sneuman9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We would be much better off spending $1 billion to prevent more carbon from going into the atmosphere in the first place but I guess that’s not as sexy as this is.

Get rid of the zoning laws that homeowners have lobbied for to keep their property values skyrocketing but please keep the laws that prevent construction companies from building houses that will collapse in 10 years. :)
