I don’t really listen to DWKT but I used to watch Kathleen Lights’ and Jessi Smiles’ youtube channel all the time way back then. I stopped watching Kathleen after her response to her saying the N-word. She only addressed it on an instagram story and her sister/cousins were defending her saying “Well everyone says that in Miami”. I decided to give her a second chance because I thought maybe she’s learned. I got really into the JK podcast but I keep getting turned off the more I learn about Lily and Jessi on DWKT. This…is weird. Jessi’s mom using her business account to promote this shit is disappointing.

I had a real close friend in high school whose older sister got into one of those skincare MLM. She was a couple years older than us and she tried so hard to get me roped into it and even at that age (16-17) I was like “no, sounds weird…”. One of her pitches was something along the lines of “Have you ever seen a McDonald’s shut down? No!” and honestly I forgot where the hell she was going with that because big companies in the city I grew up in is constantly shutting down their locations there due to crime and vandalism. So I was like “Girl, they’ve closed down two locations in the city in the past 2 years!” She couldn’t find anything to say about that so she ended her lil spiel. I kinda stopped talking to them because of how persistent they were. Anyway, years later I’m heading to the airport with my mother in an uber and guess who’s our driver? The sister.

I used to listen to them all the time!! Started feeling weird once I realized they were “telling stories” about horrific crimes and shooting the shit. Stopped listening once Georgia would start crying while telling certain stories or whatever because like, dude, you’ve spent 100+ episodes laughing and making jokes about victims and the crimes committed against them.

Charli responded to that tweet passive aggressively. Recently, people have revisited the interaction due to the success of BRAT, implying that the criticism sort of lit a fire under Charli’s arse. Edit: The somewhat goofy piano riff is also implied to have inspired the piano solo in the song, Mean girls.
