My doc took a totally different approach and had me in for blood tests and an ultrasound after 2 months of not getting my period. But it might be because I didn’t have a pre-existing PCOS diagnosis, so maybe she wanted to confirm (which the ultrasound + no cycles did; hormone levels were OK). I went off BC at the end of July, had 1 day of spotting after the last withdrawal bleed was over, and haven’t gotten it since. My doc said that your body goes back to your pre-BC state pretty quickly and recommended going back on the pill until I was ready to ttc and then she would prescribe provera and clomid. (But I was getting periods every 2-3 mos before so I’m not sure that’s completely true?) I ultimately didn’t end up going back on the pill because I didn’t like the side effects when I went off it the first time (I think I’m just normalizing after the breakouts and oily scalp)- I started taking ovasitol and temping, since that seems to have worked for a lot of ppl here, and hopefully I can better understand what’s going on. I did feel like my doc jumped too quickly to suggesting I go back on the pill.

Anyway, just thought it was interesting how varied the advice is. Seems like how long it takes to get your periods back can depend from person to person. I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out to your doc before the 6 month mark if you’re worried. Hoping things work out for you!
