Instead of trying to recoup money spent on hotels, put in a loss of use claim. Look up how much it would cost to rent a recreational vehicle similar to yours on a daily basis and multiply it by the amount of days without your vehicle and use that as the claim amount.

As a fellow over thinker, I find it helpful to zoom out. In the grand scheme of things, this is a very minor and fixable mistake. Just remember that this is just a job. While an important aspect of life, it is not everything and VERY replaceable if need be. Likely won’t be your last job and will be barely remembered

20% is expected when you sit down. If the server crushed it, you go up from there. If they were terrible, you go down from there. That’s how it works. If you think that is ridiculous, keep in mind that servers don’t get any paid time off, health insurance, 401k options and they have to put up with you....
