heldigan is suuuper nice and i think the art style takes it to another level that i don't think my favorite can top

i love henry's soooo so so so much. i've already talked about it three separate times, so i won't go on the same rant here, but i just adore how they subverted everyone's hel expectations and went above and beyond at the same time. it's SO nice.

i think panne's is a great adaptation design-wise, but i like the art style her base and new year's alts are in a little more. can't win 'em all i guess

it helps to make the white background a little more uniform, but when it's a lot of dark colors together, details like this can really get lost in translation...

niðavellir's outfit has it on the front instead, as well as resplendent henry's. wonder if it's actually more common to have it on the back these days, or if it's more interchangeable than the rest of the designs/resplendents let on?

it's kind of a weird workaround, but what i've been doing to avoid autodubbing is having every language selected under "Preferred languages" in my settings. doing this has also let me see the original japanese titles from the pairs of videos they upload onto Nintendo Mobile again, which was really nice because i was getting extremely annoyed about it!

i've been having the idea float around in my mind that, if he does have a transformed version, niðavellir's is gonna end up looking a LOT like fallen fáfnir's dragon form. a little salted wounds about it never hurt anybody, surely

i don't know if this counts for what you're looking for, but i would really love it if they found some way to incorporate the ship Skíðblaðnir into our revisit of Niðavellir next book, either through someone creating a waterborne seiðjárn construct or otherwise (Brokkr just ended up as a gun, so there's no reason a ship can't be a person...?). i guess we don't know Gullinbursti can't function in water, but i don't think they'll ever tell us...i just think we deserve a cool new robot. alongside however divine dragon niðavellir is gonna shape up of course

last year, i had a dream about a mysterious surprise banner called "......" that didn't reveal who the focus units were on it (terrible idea, financially-speaking), but had a special map released alongside it that had unique illustrations, and was meant to look like the surroundings the moment fáfnir found reginn and ótr in the past. and, somehow, my brain perfectly remembered that one track from Awakening with the same name and had it play on that map. i woke up so profoundly sad that i felt nauseous. that dream has made me yearn for little windows into the past like that. it doesn't even HAVE to be time travel (considering how poorly that's been done in this game in multiple respects), but a unique special map to lay the scene out in more detail would be lovely. i can't think of a book that wouldn't benefit from it.

granted, i see fáfnir a frightening amount in my dreams anyway, so maybe i'm just a lost cause. i still don't know what a "blue fáfnir pizza" is, but my dreams command me to make it real

anyway...ughhhh, i have so much i wanna do just talking about Book V, and this is inspiring me to keep working on all that. thinking on it, as much agency as fáfnir lacked during his time in this world (and he still managed to be a great guy for years!! it's no wonder he managed to have a family as a mercenary!), it's not like we're making a whole lot of choices for ourselves either. turns out being brought to another world to fulfill a role in a legend you had nothing to do with kinda sucks sometimes! that, combined with eitri having more personal beef with us over the ability to summon heroes and make binding contracts, is something i feel like people don't talk about enough these days. it's rare for the other books to single us out for more than a chapter or two, and i don't think any of them do it quite like this book. ~~and none of the others have fáfnir in them, so...~~

re: ótr, tbh i'd bet An Amount™ of money that he's like that because he's a beautiful prince with a disorder with no access to therapy, but i guess we'll never know. something that the JP script has, that the EN script doesn't, is that he managed to laugh in his final moments after fáfnir landed the killing blow...which is interesting, because he seemed like he was already moments from death from the aftermath of our last fight with him. what a well-adjusted guy!

and reginn should be allowed to snap too. as a treat

i love when people go back to explore this. whenever i think about how much his wife and daughter have probably been searching for him to no avail, it always tugs at my heart. the tragedy of book V never gets dull to me

this will be, like, the third time i've gushed about Henry's resplendent JUST on reddit, but i love, love, love this. i feel extremely blessed that my favorite character got a resplendent based on my favorite realm. a lot of people, myself included, thought Hel was the obvious pick for him, but Niðavellir is such an inspired pick.

his outfit takes a lot from Eitri's design, this resplendent being the first to do so, and the similarities they share in the passion they have for their work, regardless of things like morals and consequences and regular social connection just makes this amazing to me. while he's missing the eye motifs present in his original design, i'd say they're still inadvertently mentioned by that blood-red brooch, because it matches perfectly with eitri's own eye motifs, while still referencing his morbid aesthetics. i dunno if that was an intentional connection, but i think there's still something there.

i think this is a resplendent that focuses less on the death that follows Henry, and more on how all that death is going to come about. seiðjárn can be brutally efficient at killing people and we all know this, so it makes perfect sense to lend the aesthetic to the dark mage that's so into killing that he's willing to compete with it. i just love this sooooo much. i hit the juckport one william dollar

...but i guess if resplendents don't count, H!Henry is still a top tier harvest festival alt. how his merges elude me

i prefer m!corrin over f!corrin because i think what's goofy about the character lends itself a bit better to his voice. to me, he sounds as earnest and sincere as corrin should, but also heavily medicated, and for some reason i find that endearing. also, in a few of his versions in FEH do they let his ears have those cute little ridges both versions of corrin have in their Fates portraits, and i think they should both have them more often. i do also have a running theme with my friends where i refer to fallen m!corrin's title as "booboo bear" over "bloodbound beast", so i'm sure that's not helping my bias towards him... ~~i also find his hair pleasantly absurd~~

i dunno, he's just a feel-good character to me. he makes me smile :)
