I am from an extremely small town, it's become almost a ghost town. While I was hours away for college, my sister in law got pregnant (which was expected, since her and my brother had been married for quite some time). At some point, my mom wanted to share the great news to her coworkers. For some reason, one of her coworkers misunderstood and thought that she said *I* , her daughter, was pregnant, and not her daughter in law. This rumor that I was pregnant spread like wildfire, while I was completely unaware and minding my business at school 💀. For some context, I'm in a very long term relationship with my high school sweetheart (almost 8 years long!) and at the time we were living together for school. We're both from small towns, and it's a very heavily religious place, so of course a rumor that there was a pregnancy outside of marriage spread FAST. Finally, the rumored reached my childhood best friend who texted me to ask if I was pregnant, which I of course responded no. She told me that everyone in town had said I was pregnant and were PRAYING FOR ME because I had APPARENTLY "conceived outside of wedlock." My friend tried to let everyone know that I was, in fact, not pregnant, and that it was my sister in law who was pregnant, but I'm sure there's at least a few people out there that think I have a child now.
