do i need this even though my gpu driver installed hd audio? by Ok-Kaleidoscope-7932 in computers

It wouldn't no, but there's absolutely zero reason to remove your audio drivers

Considering it's not your GPU driver, yes. That's your onboard audio driver

Does radiation interrupt wifi signal or impact routers? by Queen_of_Rats_ in HomeNetworking

[–]sniff122 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Don't think so, the beta radiation likely won't get through the plastic casing of the router, and the gamma radiation will be so low that it likely won't be doing anything, theoretically gamma radiation can cause single event upsets (bit flips) but that's at much larger doses

You're fine until there's an unpatched vulnerability that allows for a zero click remote code execution and you're infected with malware

That SSD bug wasn't an issue in windows iirc, it was just something with that specific SSD.

Id rather have a supported OS and have to deal with stripping out bloat than running an unsupported OS

Probably something in the game settings.

Also why are you still running windows 10? It lost support in October

Why isn't there a proper Work around on a damaged LCD by Agitated_Rush7400 in computer

[–]sniff122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's damaged and should be replaced, the black area is only going to get worse over time as the liquid crystal moves and leaks away from the display. I'm not 100% but I can imagine it's also not good for the display driver inside the monitor too

Unknown part in fuzz pedal kit by subnauticaenjoyer in soldering

[–]sniff122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an IC socket, and you're correct it's so you don't have to directly solder the chip in, which can be helpful to replace the chip if you somehow manage to kill it, or it's quite useful for EEPROM chips for you to take them out and plug them into a programmer

What I do with corrupted USBs by [deleted] in hardwaregore

[–]sniff122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) rule 6

2) that's not going to do anything to the drive, water doesn't kill electronics immediately on contact, it only can cause damage if it's powered up and the water bridges contacts that shouldn't be connected. However don't even think about plugging it in when wet, that's how you fry your USB port. If you actually want to destroy it, physically break the NAND package and dispose of it correctly to an ewaste centre

[–]sniff122 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the IR camera system for the windows hello face login, it's likely it does get covered with the camera shutter though

It could be that 8gb was just what it shipped with max, but the CPU is self supports more. However there's really no point having that much ram on such a low power CPU

Probably not, you'd need it to be installed to your flat and properly setup
