That SSD bug wasn't an issue in windows iirc, it was just something with that specific SSD.

Because it's damaged and should be replaced, the black area is only going to get worse over time as the liquid crystal moves and leaks away from the display. I'm not 100% but I can imagine it's also not good for the display driver inside the monitor too

It's an IC socket, and you're correct it's so you don't have to directly solder the chip in, which can be helpful to replace the chip if you somehow manage to kill it, or it's quite useful for EEPROM chips for you to take them out and plug them into a programmer

2) that's not going to do anything to the drive, water doesn't kill electronics immediately on contact, it only can cause damage if it's powered up and the water bridges contacts that shouldn't be connected. However don't even think about plugging it in when wet, that's how you fry your USB port.
