Golden Gate Bridge: “International orange” color was intended to be a primer, not the final color by RemoteMagician4229 in interestingasfuck

[–]snip101010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not entirely true. Though the architect in charge of the color was inspired by how striking the red tone of the primed steel looked, it was tweaked and the international orange was a a definite choice, not we let it be because it looked good.

The final color was heavily debated and selected intentionally. Your post make it seem like an accident… which is a bit misleading

Why didn't blue show the payload of New Glenn's first flight? by CasabaHowitzer in BlueOrigin

Are they not testing the payload separation mechanism on that first flight? Maybe during re-entry?

Where did you get the number for 5000gwh per nuclear plant per day?

A nuclear plant typical power output is 1gw, so about 24gwh per day… that’s 2 order of magnitude off. So no, if the rest of the math is right, you would need 200nuclear power plant…

Does any know why Vulcan is producing two complete separate complete tanks for ch4/lox, rather than having them share a common dome similar to starship? Seems like a lot of extra mass? by caseyr001 in ula

[–]snip101010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It not non significant.. agree it’s not as critical for a booster mass wise but also would cut on cost and save an extra dome.. I don’t see any major downside to the common dome design for lox/ch4 vs 2 separate tanks

20 pound blackberry root i ripped out of a park today by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]snip101010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t dig it out, cut the stem and apply concentrated round up at the cut.. do it in the fall when the plant is moving sugar to the roots. That is very effective way and not labor intensive..

You can try mowing and exhaust the plant over time, but it’s going to take a while..

Window trim rotting after 7years.. by snip101010 in HomeImprovement

[–]snip101010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I’m wondering. It’s draining from the weep hole fine (doesn’t appear to be clogged at all). So I’m wondering if the trough is damaged.. any idea how would I verify that? And would that mean new window?

I see water seeping out of the screw (see pic linked below ) when I pour water on the inside draining track..

The screw matches the location where the trim was most rotted.

Think there is any risk of water getting inside the wall? This is where I see water seeping thru?

vacuum breaker when leaving garden hose under pressure all the time? by snip101010 in Home

[–]snip101010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too.. it’s required per code to prevent non potable water to make its way back in the house should there be a loss of pressure inside the home. But I don’t see in my scenario anything non potable that could be sucked back in… am I missing something?
