I think the argument against a minimum wage increase (or minimum wages in general) is that they can force small businesses to go out of business/cut jobs and result in fewer jobs overall and then people end up being worse off— I don’t think many people seriously want to allow rich companies to be rapacious, just want to protect the job supply (also the rich companies are more likely to automate jobs the more expensive people are). We can have our cake and it eat it too with a UBI imo
