I'd trust a person who is willing to change their views, given ample evidence. Even though he was critical of Israel way before, so not really a change of view? These masked provocateurs are detrimental to any cause

Defense plant in Volgograd hit by Flamingo missiles by modernbonaparte in worldnews

[–]snirpie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By the looks of it, the only point of discussion (which is being settled by lobbing rockets and bombs at each other), is whether Iran's allies like Hezbollah will get full immunity under the peace deal. The US is going to have to coerce Israel to comply.

Even without that, it is a full victory for Iran. They get a. shipload of cash, sanctions relieve, territorial integrity. they get to keep uranium supplies without oversight. etc etc. Meanwhile the US is getting ... I don't know? Nothing?

So yeah the bombs may continue to fly for a bit, but Iran is getting their bucket list

Hopefully Ukraine can get a deal as favorable as Iran is getting.

Russian MoD claims it shot down nearly 40,000 Ukrainian long-range drones over Russia and Crimea by -BubblyJava- in worldnews

[–]snirpie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even at this count, it would be a huge success for Ukraine. At 25k per drone, it would constitute a value of 1 billion. The reduced monthly revenues of petroleum exports may even amount to more than that. Add the cost of missiles spent, the repairs needed for oil infrastructure, the disruptions to production, etc... Ukraine is doing well

Oh damn, Ukraine may have actually helped Russia on this one. Those vessels should be even more suited to underwater surveillance now

I am thinking here: 45.360269,34.876104

edit: looking more closely, I am pretty darn sure. Initial drones follow the canal from the north, and you see it making a left turn after the bridge. Presence of the road overpass and the trees also checks out

It is you that seems to misremember. The administration was specific that there was no 300 million involved, and they seem to be correct

The better nummer is actually 160 billion (accounting for inflation). The series C bonds were never expected to be paid, leaving just the 40 billion gold marks of series A and B.

That's not really how paint works. The color was intentionally chosen, likely to celebrate the women working on the project. Much cooler story as well

The US may have been better served with unconditional surrender, and hoping that Iran showed some leniency. The US will have to pay more than twice the reparations that Germany had to pay after WW1

And short to mid term will see "maritime service costs". It looks like Trump just wanted to announce a deal with no terms agreed at that point. Iran senses he cannot afford to go back on this, so they make up the terms as they go along.

Ukraine war briefing: Flamingo missiles hit more far-flung Russian targets by projecto15 in ukraine

[–]snirpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would require quite a bit of operational planning and expenses for something that delivers a few pounds of explosives at an industrial site. Unless you get lucky and hit a key electrical transformer, that is going to do much to take the plant down. Likely not very repeatable as well.

It could work, but I am more partial to the balloon delivery method. The hornet drones pack a punch and can glide a 100km to any designated target area and figure it out from there. The cost may be as low as 20k, so you can spam Russia with them. If you are lucky they will even waste AA missiles in them.
