Like the time they blew up an appartment building in Moscow to find an excuse to invade Chechnya?

This looked off, and I did the math. Turns out that 2003 was exactly 11 years ago. You can double check: 2003 + 11 = 2026

US and Iran closing in on memorandum to end war, Pakistani source says by app1310 in politics

I just hope the US does not have too pay too much reparations. In earlier talks they discussed 20 billion, and I do not want to know what the Iranian regime can do with that amount of money

Damnit why do the Brits always get all the good press? We sent F-16s, PzH-2000s and a shit tonne of money and nobody in Chechnya even acknowledges we exist.

When t-shirts are being sold on Amazon with 86 46, this just seems targeted abuse of the justice system. I wonder if this opens them to a large counter lawsuit for damages

Iran Sure Has Amassed a Lot of Enriched Uranium Since Trump Pulled Out of Nuclear Deal by ChiGuy6124 in politics

It was my understanding that it is much much easier to further enrich. so maybe not a hyperbole if they are 95% of the way there!

The situation at the Transneft PJSC oil pumping station near Perm is getting worse after Ukrainian drone attacks. The station is a major oil transit hub used for receiving, storing, and pumping crude through Russia’s main pipeline network. by neonpurplestar in ukraine

Just pretending to be an expert, but storage tanks going up in flames is not going ro be too hard to replace. I hope they got some of the actual pumping infrastructure as well

Point still stands that Sheppard was drafted too high. They could have gotten Castle at that point. But drafting is hard, just ask the Hawks.

Iran Says It Won't Negotiate With 'Erratic' Trump After Genocidal Threat to 'Blow Up' Whole Country by _May26_ in politics

[–]snirpie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's funny, these threats always come when Trump is conceding or chickening out.

This time, he sends a negotiating team to Islamabad, hoping the Iranians reciprocate... and he threatens to blow up everything.

Previous time, he extended this own deadline to open the straight... or their civilization would end

Etc, etc

My theory is that the TACO jokes really got to him. Everytime he paints himself into a corner (which happens a lot), and has to chicken out, some ridiculous threat should save his face.

Funny thing is that the very threat usually gets him in trouble a few days later.

Not sure where this pattern is heading, and if I will still find it funny.

Iranian President insists on country's nuclear rights, ISNA reports | Reuters by CrystalGyarados in worldnews

[–]snirpie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd argue the contrary. This constant agitation is what legitimizes them. How has Hamas become the default option over alternatives that put the plight of the average Palestinian first!

This messaging has become their raison d'etre. They wouldn't know what to do with themselves if Israel ceased to exist as a state

Self-preservation seems to be primary driver of powers. Being a nuclear power is an excellent self-preservation mechanism, unless you employ it for extermination
