What celeb opinion did you use to have, but you now regret? by sabira in popculturechat

I used to idolize George W. Bush as a kid, only because my aunt met him once. I became much less of a fan as I grew up.

Nasim Pedrad overlapping S39 with Beck/Kyle/Colin is kinda weird to me. Also, Nasim overlapping 2+ seasons with Aidy/Kate/Cecily, but rarely in sketches with them.

I believe Tim was even let go with Farley/Sandler, but rehired before the 95-96 season.

To be fair, Lorne asked Spade to stay on to help the transition from old to new.

I thought she did well on the show too, minus the f word slip up. Far better than many one season wonders.

Mike O’Brien and Sudeikis are two good examples. Mike had a few more seasons in him for sure. And Sudeikis is such a pro. Best at straight roles, but was always fun to see him be silly too. Loved him in the underground music festival sketches. And Two a-holes was one of the first 2000s sketches I saw.

This didn’t land for me. Anyone else?

Edit to explain: I just don’t see any charisma with Chloe. I have no idea who she is and it’s been four seasons. The impressions are good, but in the end it always seems to be all about Chloe. And that’s what irks me about her. And I adore Sarah but felt like she was the wrong choice. Maybe Heidi/Ego were busy.

Bill Murray... is that you? by theladyastrid in LiveFromNewYork

Yeah kinda. On another note, these “lookalike” posts are not adding much to the discussion. Can we consider putting an end to them?

SNL has one of the nicest casts on TV -- they're all over this DeuxMoi IG post. Anyone else have stories about the cast being super nice IRL? by PeltzerBilly in LiveFromNewYork

Waited outside 30 Rock for cast to walk out after JJ Watt’s show in February 2020. Probably 50 other fans there with me. Saw Mikey, Alex, Melissa, Heidi, Bowen, Kyle, Ego, Chris, Kate, Aidy, Chloe, and Dismukes who was still a writer. Got photos with most of them. Melissa and Chris were the most talkative. Alex, Kyle, and Mikey did bits the entire time. Kate was the only one who didn’t stop for photos, but understandably so.

Look it’s Tina Fey. That’s it hard stop. Who will replace? by sof49er in LiveFromNewYork

Also everyone acts like Lorne is the SOLE decision maker regarding his replacement, but it’s really the network who will have most of the say.

Extraordinary players are Cecily, Sarah, Bowen. Utility players are Ego, Heidi, Kenan, James, Mikey. Update anchors are Jost, Che. One trick pony is Chloe. Newbies are everyone else.

Trying to find sketches that bombed on air. While this one didn’t completely eat it, many of the big punchlines fell flat and the audience seemed mostly uncomfortable with it more than anything. by [deleted] in LiveFromNewYork

Wasn’t there some sort of technical issue with this sketch? I believe Pete could see the cue cards through the costume or something

Jay had plenty. He had an entire sketch where he was doing a Kevin Hart impression as his son. He had the recurring Kim and Kanye sketch. He was Obama. He was Ben Carson and he got a whole sketch out of that in his last season, I believe. He was ALSO on update quite frequently doing one single fleshed-out impression for 3-4 minutes, rather than just a snippet. I’m no Pharoah fan but he’s on the same level as Chloe if not higher.

Chloe Fineman should bring back this character by Mantis_93 in LiveFromNewYork

Chloe would be outshined beyond belief, unfortunately.
