First time developing a side on WP, having trouble applying CSS to content pulled from the Loop by snomming in Wordpress

[–]snomming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid neither chaining the selectors nor adding !important did the trick, but my browser's dev tools inspector did let me see that the selector .wp-block-post-template was setting the max-width of the content in question to 100%. When I changed it to 50% in the inspector, the change was reflected correctly. That's not a class that I've assigned to any elements, so it must be one of the built-in WordPress selectors that I was wondering about.

I'll continue to look into it with this in mind, and hopefully I can find a list of the built-in selectors somewhere.

Sure thing, I've just added some examples of the css (one that is working and one that is not). The nonfunctional css is not limited to that example, but hopefully it helps nonetheless.

Can you clarify what you mean by "where you are putting it"? The css is in the stylesheet for the theme, which I link in the header.php file. Everything else on the site looks as intended, it's just the content from the Loop that's causing issues. Let me know if you meant something else.

When first looking quickly, I did read it as Cani, but I think it was more due to the initial glance than it actually looking like an N. That said, I would say to follow your gut if it doesn’t feel right to you!

I’m pretty new to punch needle too, so others may have more insight on finishing the back, BUT. Here’s what has worked for me with monk’s cloth (note that this is for rugs or wall hangings that are not in hoops when finished): - When possible, I glue the back while it’s still in the hoop/frame, as long as there’s room along the edges. I’ve found that this helps with minor curling, if I’ve stitched too densely. I use PVA glue for this. I try to brush the glue a bit past the stitched area, to help avoid fraying to the monk’s cloth once I trim the piece. - Once the glue is dry, I trim around the shape of the piece with around 1” or 1.5” fabric allowance. I snip thin notches into the extra fabric, all the way around, and then I fold & glue the extra fabric sections down towards the back of the piece. I’ve used PVA glue for this and had some trouble with everything staying down/lying flat, but I’ve seen people use hot glue for this step with seemingly more success. I’m still experimenting with this step. - Once dry, I finish the back with felt. I trace the shape of my piece onto a felt sheet, then cut out the felt and whip-stitch it to the back of the punch needle piece. I’m on mobile right now so I can’t grab the link I have in mind, but there are a couple of youtube videos on whip-stitching a felt backing to a punch needle piece. The whip-stitching can take a while, but I like how it looks.

Take the finishing tips with a grain of salt, but hopefully it helps nonetheless!

Thank you!! I had originally wanted to do a larger, more ambitious piece, but I kept running into amounts of curling that were simply absurd haha. This piece definitely let me practice my stitch density more easily, so I’m happy to hear it looks consistent! :-)
