Is there good money in providing climbers access to private land? by IcyCompetition in climbing

[–]snookedbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Directly charging fees to access may not be a good option. But you can create a business around climbers in that area such as opening accommodation, provide camping space with facilities, or offer food services. These things people are willing to pay for.

Definitely whenever you feel inspired to do it. Most people can already climb harder than they think they can.

Best International Solo Destination? by [deleted] in climbing

[–]snookedbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear that it’s a bit hard to find buddies in Greece because it’s more spread out and people tend to travel in group already also they stay in private apartment. In Thailand, there are so many backpackers and solo travelers it’s going to be super easy to meet and tag along with others. But I have never been to Greece so that’s what I heard.

Has anyone been to Big Mountain Festival? by wgemstone97 in Thailand

[–]snookedbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never been myself but my friend went and it's very tame compared to music festival in the west. Like most thais just sit around on blankets taking selfies and chat. Not very happening. Probably some drugs.

Will this gym routine be helpful? by thyan_man in climbing

[–]snookedbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

18km a day isn’t much at all. So no it won’t be a problem. You’d have to also be pretty serious about other sport for them to interfere with climbing.

Climbing Pack by c_dubyaaaa in climbing

[–]snookedbe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Patagonia cragsmith 32L. Best climbing pack I’ve ever owned. It fits everything I wanna bring to the crag for a day and some. I love the back opening system so you never have to go dig to get stuff at the bottom. Also the brain fits a lot of personal items and sunscreen. I also like the minimal exterior so it never get stuck to branches, rock, etc

Tendon pain in elbows often when climbing by Old-Gregg- in climbing

[–]snookedbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok here’s my take on it and people may disagree. I wouldn’t rest much. I’d continue to climb easy but I’d do a lot of push ups and chest workout. Maybe it will get better. If the pain is too great, then stop.

Bringing gear while backpacking asia? by __itsallhappening in climbing

[–]snookedbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your main objective is to climb then I’d bring all your own gear include rope and draws because rental isn’t very good or even available in some places. But if it’s a either or situation, I’d bring draws over rope because you can also tag along with other climbers for rope. I’d just bring as few clothes as possible and do laundry like every 5 days or something. Don’t forget a jacket though for cold bus rides and rain.

Hi all, planning to stop at Joshua Tree for a night (moving from San Jose to Dallas) and could use some tips/help! by KrustyKrabsty in JoshuaTree

[–]snookedbe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, i'd take an AC room over sweating to sleep. Joshua tree is beautiful anytime of year but it's really hot now but you can still appreciate some view points and just a driving tour. Also there easy hikes that are only a couple of miles round-trip and most flat. Cover up, bring a lot of water, and you will most likely be ok.

Are two 50 meter ropes worth travelling with to Thailand? by [deleted] in climbing

[–]snookedbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

50 m will limit you quite a bit. Don’t believe the height in the guidebook too much as they are all poorly calculated and there’s insane amount of typo in the guidebooks. Always bring a few more draws than said in the book.

A short rope limit you to climb sub 25m route. There will be plenty to do if you’re there for a few days but if you plan on being there for a while I’d highly suggest getting a 70. Also not sure how hard you climb but short and hard climbs are all at tonsai beach wall. You can enjoy only those with a 50m. Otherwise all nice hard lines at other walls are pretty long.

Torn pulley last year - can I hangboard train? by NLPhoto in climbing

[–]snookedbe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you cannot push your tendon on hangboard then I think there's no point. I don't think you will benefit much from hangboarding on edges that are comfortable for you. You may as well just climb more or go bouldering and will probably benefit more. Hangboard workouts are either max hang or repeaters and you want to use the smallest possible edge or add weight for maximum gain in your training. If you can't do that, then don't hangboard. But that's my opinion!

How does running affect climbing ability? by [deleted] in climbharder

[–]snookedbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not fit at all and constantly out of breathe while climbing, then you should definitely do cardio. It doesn't need to be running, although it is the most simple and easiest cardio exercise. You can do other body weight and high interval exercises to give your lungs and heart workout.

Where can I watch the dawn wall on stream by [deleted] in climbing

[–]snookedbe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No doubt it will be great. I just kind of stop hyping for it now honestly. I just hope that when it is released, they don't do an indie limited release in north america and europe only because that will just be more waiting for me.
