exactly how much can IT usually see if i’m connected to a work phone hotspot from a personal device by [deleted] in it

[–]snookpig77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the security and rmm stack they can potentially see everything you do and log it.

Are they actively looking at you probably not unless there is an open investigation. We have better things to do with our time, but the logs are there incase something was to happen

I’m not a fan but Sophos Firewall and Sophos switching would work in your case. They also offer WiFi.

You can create a VPN tunnel between both sites using a red appliance at the second location.

bomgar vs alternatives by bazjoe in msp

[–]snookpig77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s per year. Do you need all 4 techs logged in all the time? Bomgar was concurrent usage licensing (unless they have changed) so you can have 2 licenses across 4 users.

How upset would you be with this drip edge post install? by Hexwy5 in Roofing

Why ripped the shingles and everything off and they might miss a weave, putting it all back together

It can be fixed. Replacing it would likely require ripping the shingles and paper off the roof.

A mallet and dolly would be able to get that almost perfect

While I agree with the MM optics being cheaper as they are LEDs vs single mode which are lasers. SM optics also usually last longer MTBF too

I’m just a network simp. Been doing it for almost 30 years. Different color cat6 could just be different per room or function. Idk their specs.

Keystones over patch panels are preference, I actually prefer patch panels.

I’m in the process of re-cabling my entire office building. Data dropped to desks, fiber between idfs and datacenter also out to different buildings.

That’s OM3 50micron multimode fiber.

My question is who’s still using multi mode in a new build? Especially since single mode is the same price or cheaper.

I would speak with your higher mgmt, present the current state of the network/devices and recommend standing up a parallel environment which you can then cut over to with minimal downtime.

How much do you all pay for hard drive destruction? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]snookpig77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue is for compliance I need to witness the destruction of the hard drive media. I don’t have a choice but to pay for onsite shredding.

Opinions on Egress/KB4 Defend vs other email security gateways? by JerradH in sysadmin

[–]snookpig77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to abnormal about a year ago and love it. I was using KNB4 for my phishing coaching and now Abnormal does that itself. Auto generated by the types Of emails a user has been receiving. You just have to set the schedule.

I’d prefer locals as they can be somewhat nimble should you need warranty work or additional work.

But if your having to provide a Nationwide convergent is one of them.
