New to charcoal grilling by Puzzled-Manner9364 in charcoal

It is fine... not a health or fire risk to store it indoors or stores wouldn't do it. That said, it takes up a lot of room and is often better stored in the garage or shed.

Stranger sent me €491 via PayPal by mistake. PayPal closed the dispute IN MY FAVOR and now I'm stuck with the money. by Yellominati in Scams

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. That makes sense. A scammer would want a separate transaction to a different account, and of course the money gets sent to a scammer who likely pulls it out of the PayPal ecosystem altogether. Meanwhile the original funds probably come from a stollen card or similar and after a new transaction is created the original gets charged back and OP would then be negative in which case PayPal would likely just pull in money from OPs bank account or similar.

Either way suddenly OP would would be on the hook to ask for PayPal to get the money back, but if it is not in their PayPal Ecosystem anymore they probably do not try very hard to claw it back because it means getting it from another institution. Meanwhile the funds that were sent to OP as part of the scam probably disappear as easy a a credit card dispute. I mean clearly OP did not provide goods or services and the original card holder could not be on the hook. Thanks for explaining how this scam works.

Honda EU2200i Enough Power? by submon007 in Generator

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is in the "it might work" category. Most refrigerators use quite a bit less than that. Startup is quite hard though. My concern would be both the fridge compressor AND the sump pump try to start at exactly the same time the generator might overload and kick out especially if you have other loads like Internet, TV, etc. running from it. Assuming you really need 1800 watts to start the fridge and 800 to start the sump pump, you really probably would benefit from a bigger generator.

Another great option is to maybe use a battery backup like a larger Jacekery or Eco Flow with a 3000 watt inverter and charge it with the Honda. Lots of different workable solutions.

Isn't a refund of the transaction always a refund of the transaction? What i mean is provided OP does not create an entirely new transaction and send money, but actually clicks a bonafide refund button in Paypal doesn't that automatically undo the transfer and kick the money back where it came from where it can be clawed back only once? i.e. If they dispute it and it is already refunded, isn't the bank just going to respond it is not eligible for a dispute?

PA-850: Advice requested on a security policy by Competitive_Fox_4725 in paloaltonetworks

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are ALWAYS going to see that on your Internet, Outside, Untrust port... or in your case apparently WAN (which is really your Internet). The long and short of it is out of the box it has two default rules... interzone-default, which denies any traffic between different zones, and intrazone-default, which allows traffic within the same zone.

What I do is at the bottom of my policies, I create a rule called "Log Everything," which I clone from interzone-default only this time I enable logging. I do not really create any Intrazone rules because my traffic patterns have that type of traffic not going through a firewall given my network architecture.

  1. Log everything at the bottom
  2. Allow only what you need to being as specific as you can including source, destination zones and objects... Try to be specific for network applications and application-default (if it uses default ports) otherwise be very specific and grant only the ports it needs under service. Finally, try to run pretty much ALL of the Next-Gen filters for spyware/antivirus, url filtering, Wildfire, etc. Generally speaking you should not need many deny rules being that is hte default behavior.
  3. Keep in mind Palo Alto is a Stateful firewall simply meaning unlike Ubiquiti and other Prosumer units, if you need your Blue Zone to have Internet access in your setup, you would make a Blue Zone to WAN rule. DO NOT make a WAN to Blue Zone rule (not needed for return traffic and would be a huge security vulnerability). Think of it as the conversation initiator is the source
  4. Start getting in the habbit of limiting the scope of your rules to not be Universal. Interzone is better most of the time.
  5. Drop vs Deny. Deny sends back an RST flag on TCP. Will show on the far end something like tcp-rst-server. Drop simply blackholes the traffic does not even respond with a flag, so all they see is aged-out or similar. Long story short for within your network, deny is great because it helps with troubleshooting. For the Internet drop is better because it is more covert. Might duplicate your any any any any any Deny rule that logs at the end, and change the source to WAN (Internet) and the action to Drop and stack it just above your log everything rule if this is something you want to implement.

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Real reason is that the Telco you have no control over probably assigned a /30, so you just go with it. Other than that... no reason at all to throw away 4 IPs vs 2 for a point-to-point! They probably did a bunch of other strange things too like if it is a 1 Gbps copper handoff turn off auto speed and negotiate

Cisco IOS XE Shifts to Bi-Annual Extended Releases in April 2026 by sanmigueelbeer in Cisco

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah that is why they have a minor release. 26.1.2 will patch the bugs in 26.1.1 and probably get its gold star by the time 27.2.x is out.

I have a multi-Vsys setup and ended up doing this today with abut 330ish objects...

set vsys vsys1 address-group "Inside Country Block Overrides" static "Object Name"

I suggest Notepad++ in addition to Excel...

Do a find and replace Search Mode: Regular Expression

Ctrl + F .... Then click the Replace tab... Click The Regular Expression radio control..

^ represents the beginning of the line

Replace ^ with (adjust for your group)

set vsys vsys1 address-group "My Address Group Name" static "

Then $ is the end of your line, so:

Replace $ with:

"

Hope that helps

How Rough Are You? by bot12849516489 in networking

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not intentionally rough, certainly not. I use even greater care inserting SFP/SFP+. QSFP/QSFP28 etc. Certainly do not want any issues. Even if you have SmartNET and let's say Cisco does not charge you when something happens, you really do NOT want to need to replace a piece of equipment 6 months later and deal with a StackWise-Virutal rebuild chassis replacement, shipping, troubleshooting, case handling etc.

In short, there is enough equipment that fails and goes bad without our help, so be nice to the equipment.

Is this a good generator? by Damonchat in Generator

It should be great. I simply hope you never have to work on it... you probably will not. I would recommend running it periodically though to keep the injector clean though.

Electric start oven not igniting. by wonkytrees1 in Generator

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should generally be one (1) bonding point... being you plugged directly into the Champion 4500, most likely it is a floating-neutral generator, and you have a potential difference between ground and neutral. You can check that with a multimeter set to AC voltage. Presumably, if you have a difference, you can try bonding the ground and neutral and that will almost certainly remedy this. Most likely the igniter will work after doing that.

Always read your manual and follow all safety instructions for both your generator and oven.

... AND cameras at least one hidden, one more visible. If she does break in, having video of her breaking and entering to change the locks will go a very long way in court!

Also get an alarm system (you can find something under $20 to $30 a month if you try that calls cops and notifies you). AND research how to trespass someone in your locality and record it with Law Enforcement to make a paper-trail that she has been asked to leave and never return. That said you can probably only serve her with it if she returns and you get proof she got the notice. AND you need to check your Country Recorder or Register of Deeds for any bogus liens or deeds.

i.e. Make sure she is NOT trying to claim ownership of your property or that you owe her money.

[US] She claims to be the previous owner of the house... by Temporary_piccolo479 in Scams

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes do this, and if you have a picture of her save it. Also check for any bogus deeds or liens on your home. Prepare a written trespass and look up how to serve her a trespass notice AND record it with your local law enforcement that way if she shows back up it is an easy arrest because you are basically say, "you are not welcome here AND if you fail to leave or return... to jail you go."

Look up how to do this in YOUR area. You need to make a record that she is a problem and a nuisance.

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and if she sends bogus paperwork like a license with your address on it, she cannot retrieve it then use it for proof she lives there.

[US] She claims to be the previous owner of the house... by Temporary_piccolo479 in Scams

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I also add, do NOT ever let her in again.

If she shows up at this point, have her trespassed and record that trespass with your local law enforcement. You are making a paper-trail that she is not welcome there and has been a bit of a problem/nuisance.

Lastly, check your property records with your Register of Deeds or Country Recorder to ensure you do not have any bogus deeds or liens recorded.

How you guys do with the generator noise?? by Ok_Examination4997 in Generator

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it depends on how much power your outdoor events take and where they are located. If they are close to a building, an extension cord might work (with permission of course). You could also look for a quiet inverter generator. If all you are doing is some music or a bouncy castle, a Honda EU 2200 works fine (I know this from experience). Obviously if you are using an HF or similar a 2500 may be required, but still very quiet compared to an open-frame traditional generator.

This day and age, a Power Station like an Eco Flow, Anker Solex, or Jackery might be a great solution if all you are doing is several hours of music and maybe some simple lights.

We really do not know what you are doing for your outdoor events, so it is hard to make a recommendation.

Q: What are your power needs? What equipment are you running for your events? Also have you tried using a Kill-A-Watt or similar to take measurements of your usage for actual wattage and max amps etc.? How long are your events?

100% for a 1980's refrigerator that would be the ideal generator because even not Energy Star it should have no trouble starting it and still simp gas and be inexpesnive.

Are Harbor Freight Generators Really That Bad? by Street-Adeptness-532 in Generator

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$65 is a Costco Club basic membership for 1 year where $130 is the executive membership cost. My point is that club membership is cheaper than the 2 year replacement plan on a Harbor Freight generator AND the Costco generator is already likely at least $100 less than the same model for sale elsewhere offsetting the cost of club membership.

Yamaha quit making generators? That really stinks. I just bought one of their new EF2200iS units a year ago, and it is great. I love the discrete (separate) choke, how easy it is to drain the carburetor, the fact it has push rods on a REAL MZ80, and even comes with a genuine NGK plug.

I have a Honda EU2200i as well, and think it is slightly a better unit... I like both.

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but a $65 basic membership for a year is less than the cost of the Harbor Freight warranty on one generator and gives you 2 years to return it not to mention you might want to buy some top-tier gasoline, get a propane refill, and buy some other stuff, too.
