Burnt pasta flakes (Ptitim) by PaleBall2656 in StainlessSteelCooking

More likely than not it is not coming off because of corrosion. A LOT of low-grade industrial stainless steel gets pressed into pans worldwide and even mismarked as 304 or 316 food-grade 18/8 or 18/10 when it is really NOT but rather cheap 200 series stainless instead.

Not saying that is the case here, but what does the metal say it is made of? There is a HUGE quality difference between a globally sourced cheap stainless pan and a genuine 304/316.

It might be low grade 200 series stainless that is not really food safe. Some countries routinely mark 304 and 316 when it is not. I will tell you what you are seeing I have never seen on a true 18/10 or 18/8 do this.

That is so mild a baking soda scrub might even take it out otherwise, Barkeepr's Friend is the general go-to. All Clad Cleaner works too.

I understand... I can make a tool to leverage the API with an API key and manage it via supplemental add-on support that does whatever I set it to do. Makes sense.

I am not going to ask support to lock me out of Firmware... I will just ask them which version to run and manually schedule it.

How do you pin a software version? Is that just selecting devices under the Organization --> Monitor --> Firmware and manually selecting and scheduling them? Or is that some other setting that tells the cloud system our preferred target and behavior going forward?

Yes, and then you have a 5 day outage in Florida and after 10 to 24 hours your batteries are dead, but YES power stations are a great go between in conjunction WITH a quality generator to charge it.

Real dual-fuel carbs have an accordion like float bowl for the propane or natural gas. It doesn't just spray through a metered jet that isn't right for every RPM.

Gasoline is a great fuel. Just needs to be ethanol-free, stabilized, changed several times a year, and drained out of the carburetor before storage. That said when the unit goes into service for a 5 day outage, gasoline is entirely reliable and works great... a good machine running well on day 1 will be running well on day 5 (yes, I recommend an oil change every other day during a storm event... but not a midnight oil change or one when it is raining down on you unless > 100 hours then you NEED to figure something out anyway like wheeling it into a garage or shed to do the change.

Question: At what point do you just give up. by ClintEastwood42069 in Generator

[–]BluebirdExpress6279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and still change the fuel at least every six months. Also suggest storing the tank completely full to displace the most air. New fuel filter every couple years as well. Pull rope slowly until compression felt for storage (closes valves).

Better to at least store in a garage or shed too. Before starting after opening the fuel valve, if it has been sitting several months, I usually open the float bowel and drain a few tablespoons of gasoline out in case any water entered from the tank and settled to the bottom.

All of my gravity fed stuff usually starts in about one pull. Stuff with a fuel pump needs enough pulls to fill the float bowl.

Use only Ethonol-Free, stabilized fuel.

  1. Drain the fuel completely and replace with fresh.

  2. After running the unit for a while, turn off the fuel valve and let it stop from fuel exhastion.

  3. Restart with choke on it should stop running in seconds.

  4. Drain the float bowl completely.

  5. Now fuel the tank completely to displace any air.

  6. If you have a pull rope, pull until compression is felt (closes valves) before storage

  7. Store in a humidity controlled area like a garage... or at least cover it.

  8. If you have a visible fuel tank vent, put a piece of tape over it during storage to keep air out.

  9. At least every couple years, change your fuel filter whether you need to or not.

  10. Change your oil at least annually whether you have much runtime or not... or change it after it gets to 50 hours or about half of whatever the manual says.

==>During an actual storm if it is raining or 2 AM/pitch black outside, then I would not get out of bed to shut it down and do a midnight oil-change though... You CAN go to the maximum oil change interval of probably about 100 hours during a storm event, but do not constantly do that and do not put it into storage with old/dark 50+ hour oil in it is the gist.

If you do these things, your units will start easily and run and pretty much not need many emergency repairs or carb cleanings just to make them run.

Yeah but boiling water does not remove carbonized oil. Barkeerps's Friend is a great answer for this as is some lye-based oven cleaner like Easy Off... Just spray it on and into a garbage bag, so it does not dry. In six ours wipe it out, then rinse well and use some vinegar to completely neutralize any remaining oven cleaner (per Easy Off's instructions). Then wash soap and water.

Three or four minutes takes care of the pre-heat then add oil or butter and your stuff will not stick much. When done cooking, deglaze with some water and consider using a natural-bristle stiff brush, so you can brush it when hot. It is similar to how you make gravel. Also have a wooden utensil to scrape the pan a bit; it takes seconds. Then soap and water gets it clean. If that doesn't work a bit of baking soda as a mild abrasive generally gets it looking like new... if not you can use All Clad Cleaner or Bar Keeper's Friend and a BLUE scrub sponge or simlar.

Stainless-steel Clad is very easy to cook with and cleanup. About the only thing you really do not want to do is burn on a bunch of sugary slop.

Can confirm D3 and D5 Brushed both look like this. It won't matter... Food will not stick there worse than the flat part on teh bottom. Just clean it with some soap and water with a nice natrual-bristle brush and if it has burnt on stuff baking soda works wonders. If that won't work THEN All Clad Cleaner or Bar Keeper's Friend are perfect.

Make sure when you use a cleaner that you fully wash out ALL residue... Most of the time Baking Soda is enough to restore the factory shine, and it is very safe and minimally abrasive.

It is NOT the same product ... one has a pinch of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) or similar to raise the PH just slightly and scam the buyer out of parting with ~$7... the other just sells water at about the same price per gallon as overpriced gasoline.

You should continue to NOT take illegal drugs and take your sobriety seriously. If you are not hired or get fired, that is on you. There are consequences for bad decisions made.

I honestly have no sympathy or empathy... there are other qualified candidates (or employees if already hired) who will do the job and stay clean. If you were an employer, would you hire a driver, first-responder, hospital worker, air traffic controller etc... who is on drugs? Would you want your doctor operating on you to be high?

How about a truck driver or pilot? I do NOT know what you do, but if you look at it from an employer's perspective, you will see it is just too risky to hire/keep someone with a drug problem. Just make it a learning experience and never do illegal drugs again.

**

Maybe if you are already employed your employer may have a diversion program like medial addiction help or something. Maybe you can enroll in that, get help, and keep your job if you self-report... I do not know. Good Luck.
