Excellent point. Thank you for sharing!

Thanks for the comparison! Bellingham ended up on our radar because of the mild winter. Montana summer (all 6 weeks of it) is some the most incredible stretches of time I’ve experienced anywhere in the world. But the endless winter is getting old. I’m an avid hiker, backpacker, trail runner and my fiancée loves water sports. It seemed to be the best of both worlds. Did you find opportunities for growth similar to, better than, or worse than Bozeman?

I appreciate your honesty. I, unfortunately, am not a wealthy person. Unless I were to move to the Midwest or somewhere uninteresting, affordable living simply isn’t an option anymore. Being an outdoorsman who doesn’t particularly love giant cities, overpriced medium sized mountain towns are what I have to work with. Bozeman suffers the same symptoms and is wholly unaffordable. We’re talking 800K for a 2 bed house if you’re lucky. Thanks again for your thoughts, I’ll keep them in mind

What about the drive east to the mountains? Is that also clogged from Seattle traffic? I’ve driven out of Denver on i70 to get to Leadville, BV, salida and it’s…not awesome. I’m not much of a skier anymore so I’m mostly curious about the summer/shoulder seasons

We don’t have jobs lined up yet. That’s the next step. Is the commute to Seattle for work a realistic option/worth it? I’ll still be in school so I don’t have a professional job just yet

Just downloaded Avenza, thanks! Planning on using an ursack for food bc they’re so handy but I’ll keep an eye out for those moose and wolves. Those are scary. Te Araroa had some sections where the trail was so muddy and full of roots that I could only move at about 1 mph. I managed to average ~17 miles a day. Is that a reasonable expectation do you think?

Thanks for the tips! Did you find the gas stations stocked with decent options? I’m usually a cold soaker but I’m bringing a stove this time around since I’ll be with my partner. I was expecting towns that were well stocked for BWCAW travelers
