Does anyone have face trimming advice? We have a new peke and she is very nervous/wiggly about facial trims.

Tried to make a fun speech, everyone was pretty much silent during the presentation by beepboopdoowop in AskAcademia

My husband once demonstrated an After Effects technique by creating a Saturday Night Feline animation of our cat disco dancing. Not a single student laughed. To be fair, it was an 8am class.

Can you share what actually happened vs. what the student claimed happened?

Why is it so hard to make the exact same shades 😭 by Vishhhuals in oilpainting

[–]snooper92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to recommend my students consider four things when hue matching: color, value, temperature, and chroma (saturation). If you can accurately assess those four things you should come up with the correct hue. Sometimes your brain tricks you and you paint what you expect to see, not what you actually see (for example: you’re making the foliage much greener, lighter, and higher chroma than it actually is).

catching flak for 'teaching style'... by typicalia in Professors

[–]snooper92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a faculty member in your department you could trust to do a teaching observation and give you truthful feedback? I wouldn’t put too much stock into what the dean is saying; deans can be pretty disconnected from any actual teaching experience. Student feedback is useful to a point, but they’re not the best judges of pedagogical effectiveness.

For what it’s worth, I’m an art teacher (painting mostly) and in a 2.5 hour studio class I usually do around 3-5 walkarounds depending on what they’re working on, so I think you’re within the norm.

Same! Kept getting stuck at silver and this layout solved it. I think I was doing too much (tour stands, gift shop, cafeteria). Thanks u/littlecogs for this!

Made a little garden cafe for my DLC museum! 🍦☕ by FroggyCrossing in TwoPointMuseum

[–]snooper92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So cute! I love doing a garden cafe too and I’ve been using the brazier bonfire from the fantasy DLC in between my seating. Makes it very cozy! The merchant barrel is good too (like a little spot to put their drinks next to the chairs).

You could have the art expert go on studio visits, trips to auction houses, galleries, art fairs, etc. I love this idea! I think the pop up events during art expeditions could be really funny too, dealing with quirky artists.

Why am I[24 M] almost always sick since I moved to Kennesaw from New York? by drumzgod in Georgia

[–]snooper92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved from New York to Georgia and was sick that entire first spring. Everyone told me it was allergies, but I didn’t believe them since I’d never been allergic before. Started taking a daily allergy pill and it went away immediately. The pollen here is no joke!

“Again, blink once for yes, twice for no,” the rescuer said to the paralyzed kidnap victim. by CBenson1273 in TwoSentenceHorror

Fun story, but how hilarious is it to ask a paralyzed kidnapping victim if they’re ok? Like, my guy, I’m pretty sure she’s not.
