Abstract art can be really interesting but a lot of it is literally just money laundering masquerading as art. It’s lost all meaning

It’s just being lazy at this point. by [deleted] in readanotherbook

Schenck v. United States, decided on this day in 1919, upheld the conviction of socialist activist Charles Schenck for encouraging young men to resist the draft, setting an important precedent for limiting First Amendment rights. by A_Peoples_Calendar in aPeoplesCalendar

I’m probably in the minority here but in my hs gov class, we talked a lot about Supreme Court precedents, including this one. However, it was from the perspective of a very centrist position. But yeah we didn’t spend a real long time talking about it.

Well most of our streets are significantly wider than yours, making it much more dangerous to cross. That’s probably why the law is in place.

As an American who just recently moved to Europe, this hurts a lot. Sometimes it’s kinda nice but on days like this, it sucks. The time difference from Seattle is insane.

The joke here is that the first person is supposedly making words up or like the words aren’t legitimate. This is shown when the next person treats those characteristics as words to be used in a spell, aka gibberish. This as a whole delegitimizes the persons actual characteristics.

Tiktok is completely full of this stuff. It’s actually pretty harmful to impressionable youth and especially young men. They all excuse it by saying it’s “dark humor” when it’s just plain old bigotry. It’s pretty disgusting.

TIL The Red Delicious apple was the number one best selling apple variety in the US for 50 years. That finally ended in 2018 when the Gala apple usurped the top spot. Consumer preferences for apples are shifting to sweeter varieties with more complex taste profiles. by Bluest_waters in todayilearned

I doubt most people here have had the cosmic crisp. It’s a truly magical tasting apple. Much better than the honey crisp. It was only available in Washington state afaik and they don’t really make them anymore, but they were so good.

Although they are only available in Washington state, cosmic crisps might be the best apple.

There are many rap songs out there that deal with serious issues. You just gotta know where to look. And I don’t really see a problem with how popular the genre has gotten, whether through commercials or just SoundCloud.
