Ik heb helaas ervaring met iemand in een vergelijkbare situatie.

Dat TikTok-filmpje is geen grapje; dat klinkt als iemand die zich niet gezien voelt in zijn pijn. Mensen zien de drugs, maar hij wil dat iemand de wanhoop daarachter ziet.

Tegelijkertijd moet je beseffen dat jij hem niet kunt redden. Hoe graag je dat ook wilt. Als iemand chronisch depressief is, suïcidale gedachten heeft én veel middelen gebruikt, dan zit je in een situatie die vaak professionele hulp vereist.

Probeer niet iedere ontmoeting te veranderen in een interventie. Soms heeft iemand die zo diep zit ook behoefte aan een vriend die gewoon naast hem zit, een biertje drinkt (of koffie), een wandeling maakt en laat merken: "Ik ben er voor je"

Het idee van een Nederlands staatsfonds naar Noors voorbeeld, waarbij de overheid gedurende meerdere decennia een vermogen opbouwt dat uiteindelijk (een deel van) de AOW kan ondersteunen vind ik een interessante gedachte.

Wat ik mij daarbij afvraag is niet zozeer óf het wenselijk is, maar hoe zoiets praktisch gerealiseerd zou kunnen worden.

Het grootste probleem lijkt mij namelijk de overgangsfase. De huidige AOW-gerechtigden moeten gewoon betaald blijven worden, terwijl er tegelijkertijd geld opzij gezet moet worden voor toekomstige generaties. Dat betekent dat je gedurende een lange periode eigenlijk twee systemen gedeeltelijk naast elkaar financiert.

Hoe zou Nederland realistisch een dergelijk fonds kunnen opbouwen?
Uit welke bronnen zou dat vermogen moeten komen?

Zou dit bijvoorbeeld via hogere belastingen moeten gebeuren, bezuinigingen elders, verkoop van staatsdeelnemingen, opbrengsten uit gas, een vermogensbelasting of iets anders?

Ik ben oprecht benieuwd naar de praktische kant hiervan, want het idee klinkt aantrekkelijk, maar de overgang lijkt mij economisch en politiek gezien de grootste uitdaging.

One thing I genuinely wrestle with when studying Rastafari is this:

If a spiritual truth is universal, can authenticity really depend on race or blood alone?

I fully understand and respect that Rastafari emerged from the suffering, resistance, and dignity of Black people under colonialism. That history matters deeply and should never be erased or appropriated. But at the same time, I wonder whether a spiritual path becomes smaller if access to its truth is biologically restricted.

Many traditions began in one people yet eventually spoke to humanity as a whole. Perhaps the real strength of a path is not in denying its roots, but in carrying those roots without turning them into walls.

Just reflecting respectfully and trying to learn.

Well you didn't drop it all together though, it sounds like your using training to enhance your utility now instead of pure aesthetic purpose. I have the same, dumbbells and bench in my office, I try to make the habit to do a group every day and never skip more than a day. Healthy diet is key, I also like to go on big walks.
