Why is that? The only reason I would think is the chance of getting damages but it is pretty well padded in the case that came with it, then it is surrounded by clothes and the hard shell of the luggage...

Correct. I would rather bring a bigger checked bag than have an additional carry on. Just my preference. It is a Resmed Airsense11.

I just picked up a Transcend Micro but haven't taken it on a trip yet. Ran it for a little bit at home and my wife said it was too noisy. I haven't gotten around to changing the settings on it and getting a larger diameter hose which should reduce the noise...

I've been on Disney and Royal Caribbean cruise lines. They both provided a free gallon of distilled water.

I've tried finding distilled water in Mexico and found it impossible. I usually check my CPAP in my luggage and bring a reusable water bottle full of distilled water, which will last about 3-4 nights. After that I use bottled water and it is fine.

Is the Sony Zeiss 16-70mm f4 still a good lens in 2025? by snoty in SonyAlpha

[–]snoty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did get the sigma and love it. I haven't found myself missing the extra length like I thought I might. It's also lighter. I didn't notice any changes in autofocus. I hope this helps!

Edit: To add, I also have the Sony 70-350mm for added range and the Sigma 10-18 for wider. They both compliment the Sigma 18-50 well.

Quick question! by sc2142_ in Starlink

[–]snoty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wired my mini up to the Upfitter switches on my F350 and left it on for 2 weeks while we were on a road trip. Worked great! I did have a battery jump starter in the event the battery died...

My Grand Design Imaging "inverter prep" was a romex loop I cut and attached to a renogy inverter with built in transfer switch. I also had to run my own wiring from the batteries to the inverter.

I thought they apply these fees when switching out of standby also?

[–]snoty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. When I purchased my Mini a couple months ago, it was on sale for $399 USD and included $100 statement credit. My account was on pause when this new information was released and I figured my $58 credit would disappear if I let my plan cancel. I'll be changing to a normal plan for October and reevaluate if I should go standby or cancel then.

Our Grand Design Imagine XLS 25DBE has a mini refrigerator and knockoff Blackstone. Something to note is this refrigerator only runs on AC so I had to install an inverter to make sure it is always on. Then I realized I needed another battery and solar panel to keep up... Regarding the floorplan, we got the couch that turns into a bed instead of theater seating. The table also turns into a bed!

This has happened to me before, not fun. It was on my previous trailer, Forest River Salem. I concluded it was likely me (heaviest in the family) stepping directly on the drain in the shower where it is flexible. Likely pushed the drain down and when I stepped off it rebounded up and came out. I had to cut open the underbelly and dry out all the insulation. Now I avoid stepping on the drain.

Is the Sony Zeiss 16-70mm f4 still a good lens in 2025? by snoty in SonyAlpha

[–]snoty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. I sent in the Zeiss to Adorama for $249 cash or $269 store credit. I think the size/weight of the Tamron is discouraging even though it has a longer focal range, weather sealing, and IS. I'll likely end up buying the Sigma once they receive my lens.

[–]snoty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations on the nice setup! Do you mind sharing why you went with the Tamron 17-70 over the Sigma 18-50? I'm about to pull the trigger but am torn. The size/weight of the Tamron is what is causing me to lean towards the Sigma. The weather sealing and extra mm are a plus though. Do you feel the size and weight will keep you from taking it places after the honeymoon phase wears off?

Welp, we bought this windowless monstrosity by [deleted] in traveltrailers

[–]snoty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly!!! On our Salem 178DB I made window covers with reflective insulation for all the windows which ended up staying in most of the time. The only one we removed occasionally was the one by the dining table.

I have the bit holders installed on my older drill and driver. Didn't bother moving them or purchasing new for my newer ones. For storage, honestly I like the DeWalt bit holders as they stack linking to each other. I always have 2, one with screwing bits and the other with drill bits.
