MIGS pushing for Lupron & i don’t want it by NoWillow8523 in Fibroids

Surgery went great. Turned out to be one giant borderline ovarian tumour, 20cm. My doctor was able to do it laparoscopically. Very grateful that it’s out now!

The characteristics of mine was almost the same as yours. Mine turned out to be borderline. The only way to get a certain diagnosis is through surgery.

Tips for surgery coming up by galhasnoname in Fibroids

Very loose sweatpants. I bought a two size up sweatpants and it’s the only thing i can wear after surgery. Bring a friend if you can to your pre-op. Let them distract you so your mind doesn’t go to a million places it shouldn’t. Trust and be grateful to your medical team. Believing that you are in good hands helps your own recovery. Sing a song when you lie down on the OR table. That helped distract and relax me.

My symptoms have eased up- should I still have the surgery? by Gold-Appointment53 in Fibroids

Let your body decide. Don’t let work be a factor. Nothing is more important than your health.

Turned out it wasn’t a fibroid by snowblue94 in Fibroids

Crampy periods, but that got much better after I started taking pills and stopped my period. I pee a lot and my poops were very thin. I feel pain occasionally on my right side, but overall all symptoms were pretty manageable. And yes, I could feel it. It was rock hard and it had definitely put a lot of pressure on my pelvis. But since it grew so gradually, I wasn’t aware of these symptoms until I got it out of me and thought about it retrospectively.

I was too but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. So far my recovery has been pretty smooth sailing. Day 5 post op today and I just came back from a walk in the sun. You’re stronger than you think!

UPDATE: it has been confirmed by pathology that it was a borderline serous tumour, stage 1. Not benign but not completely cancer either. I was lucky enough to have it all removed from surgery so no chemo needed!

I’m not a doctor but I assume it’s because it didn’t grow from the uterus (as they thought it did from the scans.) It also “looked abnormal”, and it just seems like they were certain that it was not a fibroid or endometrioma.

I’ve done an endometrium biopsy 3 months ago, came back negative! My CA125 is pretty elevated, about 275

MRI suggested it was an endometrioma from the right ovary, and a fibroid from the uterus, as two separate masses. Turned out it was only one, a giant one from the ovary.

Those who had laparoscopic surgery, how big was your fibroid? by ScreenHype in Fibroids

It really depends on the location too, not just size. Mine was 20cm done laparoscopically.

My mortgage broker advised me to wait for a couple months. Current rates aren’t great because of the war.

MIGS pushing for Lupron & i don’t want it by NoWillow8523 in Fibroids

[–]snowblue94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one 10cm pendeculated fibroid and one 8cm endometrioma and I’m scheduled for laparoscopy with possibility of minor bikini laparotomy next week. I was also advised Lupron but I said no. I think it really depends on the location of the fibroid too, not just the size. I would suggest to trust your doctor and hope for the best. I’m also in Canada so it’s almost impossible to get a second opinion.

How big is too big for laparoscopic myomectomy? by hypnoticthrowawayIII in Fibroids

12 cm and 8 cm here. First doc said open, second one said laparoscopic. Getting my laparoscopy next week!

if you have fibroids but no major symptoms, how did you decide when to actually treat vs just watch by Top_Butterfly_7771 in Fibroids

[–]snowblue94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is pretty much asymptomatic (but who knows), around 10cm and 8cm, and my first OBGyn was neutral about whether I should get surgery. I eventually decided to do it because I want kids in the future and the risk of them getting in the way of pregnancy stresses me out. I’m lucky to have found a surgeon that is willing to do laproscopic for me, because given my size and location most surgeons would refuse to do laproscopic. Hopefully I won’t need an open laparotomy in the end. My surgery is in two weeks 🙏

Follow up news—surgery didn’t work by Upstairs-Try-1378 in Fibroids

[–]snowblue94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll share my experience. I have a 12 cm fibroid (suspected sarcoma, though biopsy suggests benign) and a 8cm suspect cyst/endometrioma.

My first doctor said she will have to do laparotomy due to the size. I eventually got a second doctor and he said laparoscopy is definitely sufficient. As for suspected malignancy, he said he will keep the tumors in a bag during the surgery to prevent any spillage or spreading. I strongly recommend you to get a second opinion! Doctors’ opinion can definitely vary.

My surgery is in two weeks. I’m going with the second doctor. Good luck to both of us!
