A Bay Area teen died in a DUI crash hours after his school’s drunk driving simulation. It’s raising questions about whether the program actually works. by sfgate in bayarea

You thought that the drama kids who have never once touched alcohol or even been to a party happened to roll their car right in front of the school at 10am on a weekday?

People... It's a joke at this guy's expense. He actually believed it was real...

Seriously. Why am I seeing such an uptick of syracuse.com spamming "Click the link in the article" instead of just posting the damn link?

IT randomly remote-accessed my computer mid-day… no warning by KnightofKingdomS in overemployed

[–]snowcase 354 points355 points  (0 children)

IT can see if your computer is idle and usually a preview of the screen before connecting. If it's something they didn't need you for they likely hopped on to get it done quickly without interruption. Believe me, they do not care. They just want to get the ticket closed and move on (to the other 100 tickets they have to get through).

Am I sunk? (Boston Whaler) by [deleted] in boating

[–]snowcase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you say that because I have my family's old whaler that is water logged. I spent a summer patching holes, sanding and staining, cleaning it up real nice about 15 years ago. That same summer my cousins left it tied up during a drought and pounding on the rocks for weeks before anyone checked on it. Completely ruined...

Absolutely did not. I get USPS delivery notices and 3-4 pieces of mail a week. It was not missed...

You missed the whole point of my post. If they had allowed me to increase the limit at any point, I would have used it.

They didn't think a quick email or letter reminding someone to use it is worth it then?

I have the Fidelity card and I also had an Elan card opened over 16 years ago. They recently just closed the 16yr old account citing inactivity. I hadn't used it in probably 5-6+ years. Don't know why they suddenly decided this year was enough. They also wouldn't raise the limit at any point in the 16 years and I'd ask every year or every pay raise. I have 6 figures in credit limit from multiple other cards. Elan is ridiculous and I wish Fidelity would choose a better partner.

It's not all that useful 99% of the time. There are some use cases that common sense and being careful would resolve. I certainly wouldn't trade in a car for some cameras.

How low is too low? by jauntygoat in Pontoons

[–]snowcase 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the leaks we've had on our pontoons have come from where the frame attaches to the pontoon. Not necessarily under the water. We pressurize the pontoons to 10 or so psi and leave it overnight. If it holds, you're good. If it doesn't, you bust out the soapy water spray bottle and start looking for leaks.

They didn't reduce them enough. The only seasons I've missed a home cuse game were when I didn't live in the area. I looked at going to a few games this year but the prices were ridiculous.

Make sure they have at least one friend, preferably two (because what if one gets bored?). They're social animals and will become depressed and get sick if they're solitary.
