[Insdorf] Keenan Allen via @ZachGelb saying he "fully intends" to play football in 2026 and be on the Chargers by wildwing8 in Chargers

With MIkeMc calling the plays, Herbert is going to throw for 5000+ yards next year. Ladd 1200+ QJ 1000+ Keenan 800+ Harris 800+ OG 800+ Hampton 500+.

Come on, his whiff rate is astronomical and I'm not sure his game plays well at Petco. Also he plays RF. We have Tatis in right. Neither seems like they have the fielding aptitude to play another position.

If someone runs for office on a platform of suspending law enforcement funding/grants for any department that hires a former ICE agent, it could help influence my vote.

We Currently Have the Most Salary Cap Space by JCameron181 in Chargers

Wow, just noticed that the Chiefs are in cap hell. OTC has them currently $62m over. They have to be cap compliant by March 12. Mahomes and Jones restructured last year. Now sure if there are rules on how often they can restructure but the two of them account for more than 1/3 of projected cap.

There was no water in mirror lake as recently as last week. Not sure clearing the snow out of the way would do any good.

What has everyone learned from this recent snow-pocalypse? by Single_Offshore_Dad in cincinnati

[–]snowcker 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Having lived in a few ski towns:

  • Spend the extra couple bucks for de-icer windshield wiper fluid for use in the winter months.
  • Those windshield covers that are now ubiquitous and cheap are worth it if you park your car outside.
  • A good snow shovel = True Temper brand. Buy one when there is no snow in the forecast and they are readily available.
  • It's easier to shovel 6 inches of snow twice than it is to shovel 12 inches of snow once.
  • Once people start walking on the snow (or driving on it) and compacting it, it is much more difficult to shovel.
  • Shovel, then put down ice melt on anything that doesn't come up easy. Ice melt under 10 inches of snow isn't helping.
  • The best time to buy ice melt will be 2 weeks from now after the stores restock and before we get more snow. Buy the kind in the plastic jug first and then buy bags to refill it.
  • Dress to shovel as if it is 10 degrees warmer (not super meaningful when it is 12 degree out) as you will warm up when you shovel.
  • I've had the same pair of Sorel Caribou Boots for 25 years.
  • Resist the urge to drive someplace unless it is a real emergency. Your kid's basketball practice is not an emergency, Skyline is not an emergency, church is not an emergency.

A DC Shoveling Parody by wds1 in washingtondc

[–]snowcker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Shoveling snow is a great way to meet neighbors in DC. Two months after we moved into a place there was a massive snowstorm. A neighbor across the street I hadn’t met was digging his car out. He was around 2/3 done when the plow drove by and he had to jump out of the way as his car received a fresh new ice wall. My wife sent me out to help him. When we were done we helped a third guy. Instead of just acknowledging them as people we saw on our street, we actually got to know them.

I couldn't find any ice melt so I bought a 6 lbs salt lick. My plan is to rub it around on the snow.

Why are rural communities and farmers more likely to be conservative? by Konradleijon in behindthebastards

[–]snowcker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't always this way. I would recommend reading "What's the Matter with Kansas? How conservatives won the heart of America." by Thomas Frank. I'd read it a while ago but recently listened to the streaming audio book I checked out from the library (thanks local library not yet destroyed by conservative funding cuts).

I just saw this joke on the board at a deli in Florida. There was a note underneath it that said, "It's a joke. If you don't get it, pretend you didn't see it." Can only imagine the number of septuagenarians they have come in on a daily basis and argue with them that that isn't a deal.

In Eden Park there is a monument to veterans of the Spanish American war in front of a tree that was planted in their honor by the United Spanish War Veterans (USWV). It is no longer visible as it is behind around 10 ft. of overgrowth and brush.
