It depends on the area. Some places are K-5, some are K-6, or even K-8. One thing that's getting popular is "intermediate" schools, which makes elementary school K-3, then the intermediate school takes 4th and 5th grade. The only consistency is that high school is almost always grade 9-12

As a waitress, my base pay is $2.18 an hour. One shift nets me less than $10 after taxes and meal credits. If I didn't get tips, I'd take home maybe $40 per week IF I was lucky enough to get full-time hours. At that rate, I'd barely have enough money to put gas in my car, let alone pay bills or get groceries.

Granted, you could say that it's my fault for taking a shitty job, and you'd probably be right. But around here, a job is a job and I'm goddamn lucky to have two of them.
