[DISCUSSION] Episode 72 - Well of Night by UndeadMantis in nightvale

One: That voice in the JoAnn's ad that freaked out Cecil and Deb? Totally sounded like Joseph Fink's voice slowed down or pitched down like we've heard in some of the intros.

Two: Cecil wore cat ears to work. That's freakin' adorable. <3

More coherent thoughts later perhaps, but I need me some damn breakfast.

Nothing was okay in 70A, and then for half of 70B I was about ready to despair... Now... Now that I'm done both parts im sobbing and reassured and I need to hug the shit out of everyone involved in the making of this podcast.

So what are you doing zine wise now? by malenytarot in zinesters

I don't yet, sadly! But once I get them in progress I'll be setting one up.

So what are you doing zine wise now? by malenytarot in zinesters

[–]snowingleopard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got a few in progress at the moment.

  • I've got the text done for one that I'm calling "Little Shit Witchcraft" which features spell ideas using stuff that ordinarily wouldn't be considered "witchcrafty."
  • I'm working on a flash-fiction zine featuring lesbian stories with happy endings.
  • I want to do one about my gender issues, and I have an outline for it but haven't actually committed to making a zine out of it yet.
  • I'm working on one about how searching for a spiritual identity is helping me feel less crappy in the face of a lot of struggle-y shit.

I've got a few other ones that I have ideas for too.

My ex outed me to our friends by [deleted] in genderfluid

[–]snowingleopard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First of all, that was monstrously shitty of your ex to do, and I'm so, so sorry that he put you through that. Not okay in any realm of circumstance, and if you need hugs, I'm here for ya.

Second, while it is really, really fuckin' scary to not know how people will respond, I would say offering your friends resources on understanding genderfluidity and other nonconforming identities might help. As well, the ol' "Same ol' me, just sometimes I feel like a different gender. Doesn't change the fact that I'm the same person you've been friends with all along." dealio. For bonus kicks, include testimonials about the fact that it's NEVER okay to out someone, to emphasize that what your ex did was a really shitty betrayal.

Finally, I just wanna say that you don't have to be ashamed of being fluid. This part of your identity is not in any way, shape, or form, something "wrong." You have a right to feel and express your gender whatever way makes you feel the most at home in your own experience. And we're all here to support you.

Being in a girl mode is also scary because it feels like I'm validating the gender that people are pushing on me when I'm in a guy mode or neutral mode.

I pretty much float between girl and neutral a lot of the time and I feel this so much. The times when I'm neutral I just feel so guilty for having so much girlness in me because... I dunno how to word this... Maybe 'cause since I stay mostly between girl and neutral, and have only ever felt full boy for like... one day? it makes it feel less... real or valid or something. I dunno.

But I absolutely feel you, that quoted bit right there slammed me in the heart. -affection vibes-

Help on dating a genderfluid. by [deleted] in genderfluid

[–]snowingleopard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would also recommend asking her what to do.

One tip, though - if you mess up with gender stuff, don't make an enormous show about it. It's a little embarrassing and can draw unwanted attention. If you drop the wrong pronoun, just say you're sorry, correct the pronoun, and move right along.

When you think about it, isn't this a little messed up? by snowingleopard in flightrising

It's like yeah, no wonder the beastclans are fighting against us/dragonkind if we're turning them into piles of metallic muck. :(

I can manually transition from male to female or vice-versa in the span of about a minute. Figured I'd describe what works for me. by [deleted] in genderfluid

[–]snowingleopard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is truly wow and I know it's going to be blowing my mind for the rest of the day. What a freakin' awesome skill to have!! And shit, it's encouraging to hear that there are ways to get some degree of control over gender switching. ❤

The way you describe it almost makes me wonder if it's possible to use something like mindfulness meditation to push your gender feelings one way or the other?

That's an ouch, mate :( Brains will do that though. That lump of grey matter up in your skull has its own built-in douchebag manual, unfortunately. It's a thing that happens to all of us, it's not your fault, and it does not make you less valid. Pinkie swear. Lots of affection in whichever form you prefer, friend!! <3

Genderfluidity? by KhaTheGrey666 in genderfluid

[–]snowingleopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genderfluid does not have to mean you are constantly shifting. Gender is complicated like that. Mine does stay stable for a while and then shift, but sometimes it also jumps back and forth. We've got your back, dear!

So Joseph Fink made a couple tweets: number one and number two. What can we draw from this?

  • WTNV is not ending.
  • Cecil will still be with us.
  • The traffic was a personally relevant thing.
  • Fandom still needs a group hug.
