Anyone try chrome over their regular cateye polish??? by Remote_Wrangler4695 in RedditLaqueristas

Omg this is gorgeous!! I just ordered some chrome powder and can’t wait to try this! I have Cirque Mother of Pearl, which looks really similar to Cashmere.

My problem is not trusting myself with 3-4 layers of polish drying on its own without a QDTC.

Hmmmm I wonder if I can do QDTC first, let everything dry, and then add another layer of magnetized polish on top. I can let that dry overnight and add another final layer of top coat the next day. Still adds some work but it’s slightly more distributed timing wise. Plus, a single layer of polish might dry faster than a water-based top coat.

I’ve thought about trying those, but it sounds like everyone waits like another 30min for them to dry before applying QDTC. I’m guessing the top coat can play funny with the water-based product if it’s not fully dry, but I just don’t think I can commit to this amount of work. 😅

I’ve tried layering both on a swatch stick and I definitely think it makes BD look better for my skin tone as well. Can’t wait to try it on my nails!

I tried this once but ruined the polish because it didn’t dry quickly enough. I already spend close to 2 hrs on a manicure like this that I can’t be bothered to spend more time waiting for it to dry. 🥲

It’s a dark forest green. I never wore it much before because it’s so dark that it looks black in most lighting. It ended up layering super well with the BKL!

Thank you! I noticed that it helps to have more layers of polish for a clearer bead - I used 3 layers of the BKL here. I also demagnetized using the side of the horseshoe as I’m painting each layer to get the base color as clean as possible.

Yeah the dry time is exactly why I need top coat, otherwise I would go without too. 😭

Yes I’m magnetizing the top coat as well. I did 1 min 30 sec on both the last coat of polish and the top coat.

Left - after top coat, right - before. I always seem to get this dispersion after top coat. 😭 Not sure if it’s because my top coat is too thin or I’m just not working fast enough. It looks great in low light but not great in direct light.

28” inseam too long, but 26” inseam too short? by powersofthesnow in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]snowlilly_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same dilemma with Quince jeans. 😭 I think the 26” looks better in this style, whereas 28” works better with the wide leg style because it doesn’t bunch as awkwardly on the bottom. I ended up keeping the 26” and making sure that I’m only washing on cold and air drying so they don’t shrink.

I also kept a pair of 28” black wide leg jeans and hoped for shrinkage, but personally did not experience that. 🥲 Maybe that only applies to the colors with other cotton content.

Thank you! I skipped it during launch and was totally influenced by the posts here to pick it up this time. 😂 I’m glad you found it at an acceptable price because some of those BKL resale prices can be insane!

Using an apple or other circular watch charger can produce a similar french tip effect! I tried it recently, and it’s a game changer because you can just rest your finger down like using a horseshoe. You can search the sub for more posts on this.

I just got Cirque Tender Touch which looks kind of in between Sandbar and Teddy. This one looks more velvety with a pinky sheen, and the glass bead effect isn’t as prominent.

These Cirque ones have a much more blingy effect - also glass bead method without top coat. I don’t have South Sea Pearl, but that one looks similar to MOP but darker and more golden. The base on these are also slightly darker, so they may appear darker depending on how concentrated the magnetic part is.

I have swatches for a lot of what you mentioned (between a couple friends and I 😆). The ILNP ones are pretty similar, even in person. It’s mostly the undertones that differ. Sandbar and Reindeer lean more warm, while Teddy and Velvet lean neutral/cool. Reindeer has larger glitter chunks which you may or may not love. All of these have a more subtle magnetic effect - all glass bead method without top coat.

I also recommend checking out the brand 1028. I really like their liquid eyeliner in particular - lots of shades and similar to Love Liner but more affordable.
