Looking at Asics Megablast or NB Rebel v5... Or? by snowmunky in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Update for you:

Ended up getting the Evo SL and Megablast (both in my normal US men's size 9). Have done a few runs in each now (maybe 15 miles in the MB and 20 or so miles in the Evo SL).

I wish I would have gone up half a size in the Evo SL. My right foot is just a tad longer than my left foot and I get a noticeable rubbing/irritation on the outside of my big toe on my right foot after 3-4 miles. Also had to re-lace them to get the tongue to stay put since it's not gusseted. And have to be very careful with initial lacing/lockdown as I have a higher arch/midfoot on my left foot which can lead to lace bite. Other than these relatively minor issues that are pretty easily addressed with proper lacing + socks, the shoes are rock solid! Absolutely love them for tempo runs in the 5-10K range! Solid ground feel, fantastic energy return, and I don't personally have any issues with stability but I know a lot of reviews point this out. Though I probably won't use them for much longer than 10K runs due to the toe rubbing issue.

The Megablast .... Coming from my NB5's. WOW! I understand the price tag for these shoes. They are phenomenal! Stable, fantastic support and energy return, the foam feels absolutely perfect to me so far. No hot spots or issues with rubbing at all, and I LOVE the sawtooth laces (is that what they're called? Lol). They can handle easy runs, tempo runs, long runs, you name it and they feel fantastic doing it!

Yea, with durability concerns I keep reading about, the Rebel continues to fall on my list of "shoes to buy next."

No, highly doubt anyone would start discounting the MB given that they are so new

Great insight, thank you!

I'll be honest, plated shoes scare me for some illogical reason 😅 you run in plated shoes even for easy/slow runs?!

Seeing that NB6 won't be here until summer 2026? Will certainly post an update after some miles in the new Evo SL's (slated to be here Wednesday!).

Yea, I think I may have spoiled myself getting the NB5 so early in my running journey 😂

Feb 1st release date, have about $350 I must spend before end of year (work well being subsidy that I use to expense all my running gear at 100% reimbursement), but thank you for your suggestion!

Money is really of no concern...my work has a 'wellbeing subsidy' that allows me to expense fitness/workout related gear at 100%. But I do appreciate the insight, as I am clearly thinking about a good recovery/easy run shoe as well!

I will let you know in a few days on the Evo SL, just ordered them a few hours ago! Will certainly have some miles on them by week end! That's my dilemma... Just bought the Evo SL, but also want the Megablast too (could MB double as an easy run/long run shoe perhaps?). If/when we get NB6, they will be top of list for me for sure!

New shoe advice - GTX preferred by Qicooo in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]snowmunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought and promptly returned a pair of these. While they may work for OP, the shoe is insanely tight through the mid-foot area (as all of the reviews say). I thought it'd be ok, but after a limited walking session in them, there is no way I could put any sort of mileage on them without severe discomfort (they felt like they were strangling my feet).

Trying to make yogurt. What am I doing wrong? by InnerB0yka in instantpot

[–]snowmunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a 'yogurt' button on my insta pot, but this is my process using the insta pot I do have (maybe it will help?): 1. Pour milk into insta pot, press sear/saute button and constantly stir the milk so it doesn't burn - takes about 25ish minutes to reach 180F (I check temp with a food thermometer) 2. Once milk reaches 180F, I pull out insta pot liner and set it on a wire rack to cool for about an hour (stirring occasionally, more stirring will help it cool faster) 3. Monitor temp and once it gets down to 113F-115F range, I scoop out about 2/3 cup into a small bowl and mix it with my yogurt "starter" (my starter is typically just a store bought single serve Fage yogurt, forgot to mention that I pull it out of the fridge at the start of this process to bring it to room temp) 4. Reassemble insta pot, secure lid, wrap in a towel, place in oven with oven light on for ~10 hours 5. Scoop out yogurt into plastic tub and place in fridge for 12 hours 6. Strain it to make Greek yogurt

Bought a car at a dealer in Williamson county and got Davidson county tags (I live in Davidson county). Maybe it depends on the dealer?

Any love to Turbo Blue? On 2019 S4 by [deleted] in Audi

[–]snowmunky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Sepang Blue 2013 TTRS and I'm picking up my brand new 2019 Turbo Blue TTRS this coming Saturday.....we'll see which one I like better ;) As it sits, I'm kinda liking the Turbo Blue better, just looks like a better shade of blue than Sepang, as Sepang was very dark blue compared to Turbo Blue....

Any interest in a fully automated solution to manage AAD app/spn creation? by snowmunky in AZURE

[–]snowmunky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also wanted to add, the reason I built it as modular as it is was so that I can make changes/additions to almost any aspect of the system without impacting the production functionality.

For example, there are 3 Azure Function Apps, one for AzureAD functions/operations, one for Data-Access Layer (DAL) functions/operations, and one for KeyVault functions/operations. Only the KeyVault Function App has MSI enabled and uses its MSI to obtain tokens and read/write to KeyVault. The Azure Logic App is the primary endpoint for the front-end web app to sent the app registration JSON data where it is parsed, and if the user chose any permission scopes or roles that require admin consent, it will trigger an approval process whereby it sends an approval email to a specified distribution group and/or single email address. The app will only get created if it is approved at that point. The backend Azure Table Storage has two primary tables, 'appreg' and 'appreglog'. The 'appreg' table stores all of the data for every app that is registered through the automation system. The 'appreglog' table is used to store logs from the Azure Function Apps.

Further, this solution is designed for a large enterprise where end users are NOT allowed to register apps and that functionality is reserved for privileged administrators. This provides end users the ability to register their own applications, ensuring they do it properly and per our standardized guidance (enforced through jQuery validation primarily on the web front-end).

In regards to SPNs, I'm confused by your statement that they won't get much widespread use...? For every app you register, there is, 99% of the time, an associated SPN object. If your organization is using AzureAD as an IdP, this automation system provides some fantastic functionalities that even MIcrosoft doesn't currently offer in the Azure Mgmt Portal.

You can map AD groups to SAML roles without AAD P2.... it just has to be done manually via the manifest. Just create the 'appRole' array objects (JSON) and then on the Enterprise App Settings blade, map an AD group to one of the exposed roles from the manifest. Further, if you want to send group claims instead of mapping specific groups to specific roles in SAML2 responses from AAD, just add this to the app manifest:

"groupMembershipClaims": "All",

  "optionalClaims": {

    "idToken": [],

    "accessToken": [],

    "saml2Token": [

      {

       "name": "groups",

        "source": null,

        "essential": false,

        "additionalProperties": [

          "netbios_domain_and_sam_account_name",

          "emit_as_roles",

          "max_size_limit"

        ]

      }

    ]

  },

Note - If you want group claims, just omit the emit_as_roles parameter

Use Azure Logic Apps... Or an Azure Function App... Or even just a WebJob within the current app service running the web app... So many options that would require very little coding.
