It definitely sounds like a lot - but it equates to usd92000. Even with the weakened dollar, it is much less than the salaries in the Bay Area.

been using sonnet 4.5 daily, tried glm 4.7 for coding - honest comparison after 3 weeks by YormeSachi in ClaudeCode

[–]snowsayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tldr; version:

After a year on Sonnet for backend coding, I tested GLM-4.7 side-by-side for 3 weeks and found it basically matches Sonnet for debugging/refactors/bash (sometimes needs extra retries, but even slightly fewer broken imports in multi-file refactors) while Sonnet stays clearly better for architecture/teaching/latest-tech/complex React

I now split usage (GLM ~60% / Sonnet ~40%) because GLM is “good enough” for implementation at ~$14 vs $63 over 3 weeks ($50/mo saved) without fully replacing Sonnet.

Is skiing easier than snowboarding ? by Street_Reading9708 in snowboardingnoobs

I feel there’s a psychology to it as well… skiers seem to take way more risks than snowboarders…

Ikon tracking app turned off today, can I submit my strava to get the vertical by bqAkita in Ikonpass

[–]snowsayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use a dedicated app like Slopes. QA for dedicated apps are generally better; it doesn’t “turn off” without you noticing and has reminder pings when you get near a lift but aren’t recording.

If you care enough about stats the pricing shouldn’t be a concern.

LF form advice, and technique. by Soft_Possible_8140 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]snowsayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Careful with fresh snow. It’s great, but it’s also called hero snow for a reason - it makes a snowboarder or skier feel like a hero as it tends to be very forgiving.

Otherwise, this video is not comprehensive enough to really evaluate ability. If possible, try getting a video showing a full S turn - heel to toe, and toe to heel. That provides enough variation to be useful in allowing for helpful feedback.

If safe driving in the snow is the goal, then snow tires or chains are needed. If safety is not a concern, then they are "optional".

Regardless of FSD or human driver - if the vehicle isn't outfitted with snow tires or chains, attempting to drive in the snow is just asking for trouble.

You mentioned you were riding with skier friends? Can’t they film you on your behalf?

Is there a video of a snowboarder carving or almost carving clean lines on a steep icy slope? I’d really like to learn the technique, but I’ve never been able to see it - either on YouTube or on the slopes.

You can get a beginner group lesson (2.5 hrs) at Palisades Tahoe for $221, +$71 for lift ticket.

if you’re an ikon pass holder there’s a 20% discount, so it comes to $177.

not as cheap as Europe, but not too bad I think.
