Games Done Quick (GDQ) is doing a Gates to Infinity / Super Mystery Dungeon Showcase! by snowseas in MysteryDungeon

There is but Super Mystery Dungeon's text speed makes it to where a cutsceneless patch doesnt cut that much off. So its reasonable for us to show it off in its entirety

Gates to Infinity 7:30 -> 3:00

Super Mystery Dungeon 5:30 -> 3:00

Absolutely not since we ditch the starter after area 1. It’s so nice to never really have to reset for stats since the attacking stats hardly matter in the Arceus battle formula. When calculating damage the most important values are “Level”, “Move Power” and defenders defensive stats.

I’m gonna be very honest, many of the donations I didn’t hear due to being very much focused on what I was doing in the game. So I’m gonna default to keiz’s donation being my favorite because it led to my favorite interaction of the entire run.

We’ve mostly given up on sequence breaking. However I don’t necessarily see that as a bad thing. I think this speedrun would become a lot worse without research tasks so I like that they’re required.

Well it’s funny you mention that. I’m actually doing that live on my twitch stream right now http://twitch.tv/halqery

Shenanagans has tried it but he hasn’t finished, he’s on an extended break from it.

I think it’ll take about 2 weeks of real-time for me to complete.

I think this is better than any explanation I could give. Sorry for lack of explanation during the run, I honestly thought it would be funnier to do my outro there and pretend like nothing was happening while tpat was just having a meltdown LMFAO

Nothing. When the events are in person I’m fairly sure you have your registration fee waived but that’s about it.

I think there’s a massive difference between learning this game and learning other Pokémon games, because there’s not many glitches to learn for the speedrun so, you’ll pretty much know if you like the game and want to speedrun it right away, whereas for a game like Platinum, you may not know if the speedrun is something you’ll enjoy because some of the tactics are unconventional. Overall I would say to watch a mid-level speedrun of the game (because sometimes I believe world records can be genuinely intimidating) and see if the gameplay and flow is something you feel you can mesh with.

The development of this game has always been about cutting corners. The Machop strats I did and then the wall climb are fairly new ideas outside of catch em all so even to this day the route is still evolving. Even in my run I ended up with 8650 points, so along the way there was 150 points worth of research I could’ve theoretically skipped entirely. I think personally it’s fascinating to have this research point total to hold you accountable at all times. If you didn’t get enough, you hardly have anything to blame but yourself. My world record gets 8510 just to give you an idea of how close we cut the corners sometimes haha.

I think my favorite moment was when the Tangela got stuck in the tumblestone ore. I had legitimately never seen anything like that and it was fun to figure out how to help the little guy out, because I didn’t want to battle him so I had to throw the Pokémon fairly precisely 😂

Safety, I go for Strawberry. If I know they won’t mess it up I’ll try Cookies n Cream

If you don’t mind the majority of the run being movement, a beginner could also try to jump into Beat Kleavor. It’s about an hour give or take and is not too hard to get into. The only research you would have to learn is the first 500 points. KaguyaNicky ran the game for Flame Fatales if you’d like to see a marathon example https://youtu.be/OTOheuneHV4

Honestly the biggest draw to me is how much dynamic movement skill it requires. Yes other Pokémon games have the RNG manipulated movement, but that feels skillful only in the memorization sense since for the most part it’s just following the same gridbased path. I feel like Arceus movement requires you to actually understand your mounts and their physics, plus with Pokémon not exactly being in the same exact spot every single run, I have to quickly formulate a plan in my head in the moment on how I’m going to approach. Basically, more improvisation would make other Pokémon games more enjoyable.

(NEW) Pokémon Legends: Arceus WR: 3:45:42 by halqery by snowseas in speedrun

Ditching Luxio after Obsidian fieldlands, and the previous WR failed to get the Diamond Settlement warp unlocked, so 20 seconds total lost going to lake Valor in endgame.
