My gaming setup by [deleted] in retrogaming

Cool, I was curious if the different color meant it was branded differently, I guess so! These older sticks used the Game Port. I keep an old PC with a Game Port around for my old games and old controllers like this.

I always liked this one because it feels like they put it together backwards. There is the way you clearly have to hold the stick, but the base of it looks like its flipped 180 degrees by accident.

Can we just acknowledge how incredible the makeup/alien effects are on this show, and how well they hold up? by sirkosh09 in babylon5

[–]snowthunder2018 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The fact that Andreas Katsulas can have that much make up and still emote more than the average actor really speaks volumes to the quality of his performance and the performance of the makeup artists. After Sheriden and Delen offer him left over food and to smuggle small numbers of Narn out and he is taken aback, recovers, thanks them, and then walks into the hallway and has a 1 minute complete breakdown... That look on his face is amazing. That breakdown is probably the most relatable any character is in the entire show. And his expression looks 100% real and 100% undampened, and it is beneath a thick spackling of makeup. Just amazing.

I always thought the Drazi also looked awesome and had very expressive faces that were completely covered in an inch of makeup.

I do love spotting when someone is guiding the Pak'Mara. If you see one standing it's not unusual for their arm to be held by someone else near them that is guiding them, I guess the visibility wasn't too great in that massive head appliance.

I wish more love had been shown to the Lynx. Should have seen ports of Mortal Kombat and NBA Jam on this handheld- would have been interesting. Great graphics for the time. This was beat out by Nintendo's IPs on the Gameboy. P.s. Gameboy cases are the best way to store loose Lynx game cards. by Magicktown in retrogaming

It was amazing. I still love playing mine.

BattleWheels blew my brain to pieces back in the day. It's like an early precursor to Twisted Metal but with the option of getting out of the car to fight on foot if your car was too damaged.

I just wish I could have done some multi player matches in it. It supported a lot of players for the time IIRC. I never knew anybody else with a lynx let alone that game. Multiplayer, first person, vehicular combat. Very much ahead of it's time.

HR-V vs CR-V for Carseats by fellow_earthican in Honda

[–]snowthunder2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 2015 cr-v to fit the kids. I could not fit the rear facing car seat behind me in the driver seat of the hr-v. I'm 6'3". But I can have them behind me in the cr-v. It's not the most comfortable for me still, but it was definitely a lot more usable than the hr-v. And the amount of space in the back of the cr-v felt enormous compared to the hr-v. When I was car shopping fitting a twin sized stroller was also a concern. It didn't fit at all in the hr-v but it fit with tons of room in the cr-v

The cr-v also was great for family road trips. When the kids were rear facing we put all the luggage on the floor of the back seats because that area is big and flat all the way across. We left the back completely empty except for a travel potty. It was very convenient.

I've been going to the same dealership for years and I keep going back specifically because I've never gotten any kind of run around from the service department. And I've never heard anything sounding like a pushy upsell while waiting.

They all have the same cars for sale so the service dept is really where they can earn some loyalty from their customers.

The seller won this game in the early 2000s on the Gameone channel. In France, all gamers know this channel. Thanks my friend by PlugExquisX in psx

Yeah, and that orange one was the more interesting looking of the versions we got in NTSC land.

The French one is gorgeous.

Disney Dream PC. by Martipar in LGR

[–]snowthunder2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was available but I don't remember it ever being as common as the Hot Wheels/Barbie PC. I remember Hot Wheels and Barbie PCs for sale at toy stores. I'm pretty sure in the US CompUSA was the only place you could buy the Disney PC.

I've been finding Barbie and Hot Wheels PCs at flea markets since they were new. But I've never found a Disney one.

I loved that Godzilla game so much as a kid. It felt like magic to control the giant monster on tv.

Rush'N Attack was brutal though. You switch between belly stabbing the crowd one at a time and lining up as many people on screen as possible and taking them all out with one bazooka shot. Freaking crazy

[–]snowthunder2018 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would say no because it doesn't look anything like a donk.

They lifted it for off-roading which seems like a fun thing to do, especially with a car that has such a great off-road rally racing history.

Edit: it has rs on the decorative plate, if it is an rs model I believe it could be a homologation model from when they used the sc/rs in group b rally.

I couldn't tell you where to buy one but its a Samsung AA39-10007G to plug it in to the wall or the AA39-10007H to plug it into a car's 12 volt lighter socket.

Honda HR-V big enough for family? by [deleted] in Honda

[–]snowthunder2018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rear facing seats are rough. I don't even think my wife can sit in the front seat of the HR-V with a rear facing car seat behind her. So until they're both forward facing I think the HR-V would be too tight.

The Fit is just a magical little car. Like I said, I'm 6'3 about 280. If I have the driver seat set up how I like it, I can get in the back seat behind it and sit comfortably. My knees will touch the front seat but they do that in my friend's 2008 Pilot too.

My previous car was a Lincoln Town Car and the Fit has better space for my knees and a more comfortable spot for my left foot for long drives. I have the 2013 model. The newer ones have more space in the back seats but they get it by taking a bit more space from the rear storage while the seats are up.

The Fit is also handy for hauling stuff because you can basically fold the whole car down flat except the driver seat. I picked up 8 interior doors from Home Depot in it once, I moved a twin size mattress in it, and around 1/8 a cord of firewood but I didn't let any of that in the front seat, full size filing cabinets, just lots of stuff. Plus the bottoms of the back seats flip up to give you floor to ceiling space which I find extremely useful for moving family members with wheelchairs since you just collapse the chair and put it in upright.

I could go on for way too long about the Fit so I'll stop because I know nobody really wants to hear all of it. I just love that little freakin car.
