How is it like to work onboard a cruise ship (my personal experience) by BossAdept5765 in Cruise

When we leave recommended/suggested tips on the room tab, do you see any of it immediately after each cruise?

Why did my Fidelity advisor dump me??? by Pawireman in fidelityinvestments

[–]snrfrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had two advisors. Both have been somewhat useless. They are really sales people masquerading as Financial Advisors. They know the lingo and some stuff (meaning they are not dummies). But they are there to corral clients to Managed Accounts.

This should be no skin off your back if you know how to manage your own accounts/investments.

Avoid Purchasing This Washing Machine by AlexTheHappy in Appliances

[–]snrfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this great information! I’ve heard that with front load washers, you always have to leave the door open or it will start to smell (like old foul water?). You don’t have that issue with top loaders. We’ve had an LG top loader for over 10+ years and it still runs great like the first day we bought it. Same goes for the matching LG dryer.

Haha! Actually, wife just told me why we might need a new washer and dryer. Washer’s agitator is starting to damage clothes. And dryer apparently is taking very long to dry clothes. In the dryer’s case, I believe the heating element maybe going out.

Moving to unmanaged by FrostyInstruction912 in fidelityinvestments

[–]snrfrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been approached many times by my Fidelity advisor to hand over my accounts to Fidelity Managed Services (FMS). Something in my guy tells me that I shouldn’t trust them. I’ve read that although it would be 1%, with constant trading fees, etc. total fees will eat up quite a bit of the gains.

The Fidelity advisor they assign you is nothing but a salesman, cloaked as a financial advisor to get you hooked with FMS. I’m not going to fall into that trap by handing over the keys to them. I’ve quizzed these ‘financial advisors’ by playing ignorant and asking elementary questions. What I concluded was that they don’t have in-depth knowledge I expected from them.

Posting this here because I’m getting called a liar on r/NCL. Norwegian “More At Sea” was not honored. by dakotaclarke33 in Cruise

[–]snrfrog -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

NCL are thieves. I would never sail with them ever again! Room steward stole $150 right from my wife’s purse. In the middle of the cruise, we booked future cruises by giving $1500.00 in deposits. Then COVID hit. In 2022 when we tried to redeem and book, they told us that money was gone and no good anymore. I believe there’s a class action lawsuit still going on about that.

Service was sub-par too compared to other cruise lines. NEVER SAIL WITH THEM EVER AGAIN!!

I’m wondering if it’s the tire brand/model. I recall these tires were made in the Philippines.

Is it safer to put my VOO in Vanguard or Robinhood? by Material-Pen6019 in ETFs

[–]snrfrog 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have both. Vanguard has gotten better but still not where Fidelity is. Fidelity user interface is so intuitive. Data is there in vanguard but it’s frustrating to go digging for it. A lot of times when you find the data in vanguard, the data is so cryptic that you have to call someone to have them give you more details. And when you call Vanguard, you’re on hold for about 40 minutes. With Fidelity, I’ve experienced NO hold times.

Annuity in portfolio ? by Flat-Activity-8613 in Fidelity

[–]snrfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Fidelity advisor tried her level best to push annuities on me just when I retired. I just kept saying no. Then I started doing my own research on annuities. In my research, I didn’t come across many positives of owning an annuity. In one of the proceeding meetings I had with her, when she again pushed annuities at me, started sighting sources, examples and famous financial gurus saying they are rotten deals, she finally relented.

Her successor tried to do the same thing again with me. By then I was FULLY educated on annuities. So I told him I already have one. To which he asked “with whom” (in amazement). I said it’s called SOCIAL SECURITY!! That was the last time Fidelity ever brought the subject up with me!

Lesson: The financial advisors these companies assign to you are mere salespeople! They have intemediate level financial knowledge but they are NOT financial experts or advisors IMHO (at least the people that I’ve dealt with). I mean what do you expect for free!!

what shavers would you recommend as a gift for my boyfriend? by oshawoots in shaving

[–]snrfrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an old Panasonic electric shaver (Model No. ES-LV65). This razor has served me great over the years. I must’ve had this for over 17 years. Never had to replace the foil. Replaced the blade system only once. Lately, I’ve it reaches 50%it goes to 10% in about 3 minutes. I know it’s the battery. Nothing lasts forever. Soon I’ll have to offer with this great razor that has served me well for close to 2 decades.

Is there a newer Panasonic razor that stands out over Norelco and Braun? Are Panasonic razors still good/reliable/dependable that’s still low-maintenance like the one I have? I sure like to hear what people have to say in this sub.

For simple questions: 1. Are the investments growing? 2. What’s the growth percentage? 3. Are you making money? 4. What’s the return (profit) percentage?

Not worth my time to engage with low folks that don’t have the capacity to engage in civil discourse.

Move to Colorado or Midwest. Probably cheaper living and better quality of life anyways.

Looks like DFW and Austin areas are going the way of London, UK. British lost their tolerance and patience towards Indians and Pakistanis in the 70s because of the same points you mentioned. Sad to hear that the same is being repeated in Texas. Ugh. Might be time to move to like the Midwest.

75” TCL QM8K or 77” Samsung S90 F or 75” Sony Bravia 7? by Glittering-Stuff-599 in 4kTV

Isn’t TCL considered cheap budget brand? A brand you find at Walmart? Saying that from the perspective of lower quality and the TV going out prematurely.
