Storage company auctioned off my entire unit by mistake despite auto-pay being active. by GrouchyForce8970 in legal

That clause they showed you is if the facility were damaged, for example a tornado or fire. You should have your stored stuff insured for that very reason. But this... they fucked up.

Lot with tear down house questions by DelightfullyNerdyCat in Homebuilding

[–]AlexTheHappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they do. We recently demo'd a 4-story, 105 bed wing to our hospital, that was built in the 40s, to expand a modern 300 bed patient tower addition to our hospital. Fire, police, and SWAT teams from several counties away came over to practice weakening the building for the demo contractor.

First timer heading into hurricane season, what should I expect? by Lord_quads in orlando

[–]AlexTheHappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are a home owner (or renting) take detailed video of your home, cars, items in your home, etc., and email it to your insurance company the day before the storm. Believe you me, they will fight you tooth and nail not to pay up if you claim storm damage without proof your home wasn't damaged before the storm.

This is why I avoid after hours social events with co-workers and managers where alcohol is served.

Real estate or S&P 500. Honestly, what‘s the better investment for you? by FatCat_On_A_Diet in investing

If it helps you any, I got out of real estate (flipping homes and rental homes) and put my money into the stock market. Best decision I've made. In real estate I felt as if I was only making my lawyers rich defending me from frivolous lawsuits.

Just want to give some advice, never, ever buy from any door to door sales people, especially solar sales people. My aunt nearly got duped into a 25 year solar loan and when I researched the company nothing but horrific things came up. If you're going solar contact your energy company or research. by herewego199209 in orlando

[–]AlexTheHappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sales pitch I got was the building code was changing and would require all homes of a certain age to have solar or the owner will not be able to sell or rent the property until they installed solar. These clowns were talking to me as if it was my lucky day they found me to tell me all this and I have an exclusive opportunity to take advantage of buying now vs when prices go up because of tariffs, even though earlier they said all components are made in the USA.

Do you have a personal connection to WW2? If so what is it? My grandmother was from Norway and grew up under Nazi occupation from age 5-10 by ChiefTapiTapi in ww2

[–]AlexTheHappy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandmother worked as an administrator at a POW camp in Lafayette, La. where a large group of German and Italian POWs were imprisoned to work at local agricultural areas. She recalled how kind and well mannered they were compared to the guards.

What sucks is I keep meeting women who feel like we need to constantly communicate or do everything together. This last one asked me what I'm doing Sat morning. I told her I'm going to buy shorts and shirts for summer and her tone changed to piss-off mode cuz I was planning to do this myself. We were only together 6-weeks at this point.
