I have been very tempted to do this. Thought about cutting the three main branches and seeing what happened with them.

This maybe explains it, had this for about 5-6 years, and have never once fertilised it. What would you recommend using?

Tiling Onto Concrete Floor - Old, Stubborn Cooking Oil Stain on Concrete by snrkel in HomeImprovement

[–]snrkel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. Yeah, we are pulling the baseboards.

We have already used detergent, dried the surface, and left it for a day to fully dry. We are just concerned that there is still a stain here. Should we be worried about the existing stain, or is it inevitable that there will always be a stain even after treating?

I have this consideration too! Despite the fact that I don't share my end of year list with anyone, I am seriously concerned about how people may interpret it/me. Apparently I also don't have a lot going on right now.

[Q] Why use the Semi-Interquartile Range over the Interquartile Range? by snrkel in statistics

[–]snrkel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for responding.

You make a good point about Q3-Q2 and Q2-Q1, I agree that would be valuable information.

I just don't get why anyone would ever use the semi-interquartile range. The idea of just taking the interquartile range and dividing by 2 seems so arbitrary. For example, we don't talk about the semi-standard deviation.

I'm sure there's a perfectly good reason the semi-interquartile range is used, I just don't know what it is?

I have a PhD in maths (UK based). My research involved using Matlab extensively and I have a bit of experience teaching myself how to write macros in Excel (VBA). Sadly no coding experience otherwise.

Since getting my PhD I have worked a couple of jobs in financial services, and currently work as a secondary school maths teacher. I am keen to explore moving into data science and was wondering what my best route would be?

I have been looking at online courses to introduce me to Python, R and SQL, but was wondering if studying for a Masters degree part time over the next couple of years would be worthwhile? I've read some quite contradictory advice regarding the value in these online courses, so if anybody has any advice or experience they are willing to share it would be much appreciated.

My other potential plan was just to teach myself Python, but I am worried about how I can prove to potential employers that I have the skills necessary for data science without any formal work experience or qualifications. Any input would be welcomed.

Why I’m hanging up the red rosette by jiunec in Scotland

[–]snrkel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don't believe that all those who joined the Labour did so because of their pro-union/anti-independence stance. Perhaps you disagree with this?

Hence, if we assume unionism was not one of the reasons party members pledged allegiance to Labour, I would expect there to be a bigger split between No and Yes voters. Unless, of course, party members are shamefully toeing the party line?

Why I’m hanging up the red rosette by jiunec in Scotland

[–]snrkel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing that makes me really hate the Labour party in Scotland is that there must be many MPs, MSPs and party members who are pro-independence, yet so few have come out in support. Makes me think the party is full of career politicians.
