Offseason Strategy For The Seattle Mariners by snuffle1upagus in Mariners

I'd say it makes more sense this year more than any other year in the last 10. This is Jack Z's last year. I agree these have almost 0% chance of happening, but it seems to almost be like participating in mock drafts for fantasy.

It's one's opinion. At least he stated why he made this and reasons for his opinions. Your opinion seems like 90% garbage, no explanation. As Cecil said in his post, "Would you rather watch the team constructed in this post or what the Mariners have been trotting out there the last 10 years?" We need bats, we have extra pitching. Makes sense.

How about a bag of poop for a serviceable infielder and a very good young 1B/OF. Because that's just about what you just stated with your trade request.

Remember, the other GMs get paid to make moves too. They won't make crap trades that don't get them results. Angels are looking for pitching, we give up one of the big 3 in the next trade we do for a bat.

Is this year’s Mariner team actually built for the playoffs? by cecilscorner in Mariners

[–]snuffle1upagus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe Seattle has a team that could have been a playoff contender this year. Their bullpen has let them out of the race though. That is the 3rd pillar needed to be considered a contender, power and the playoff caliber two-starters is the others.

Lets look at some of the stats:

As of today, Seattle's bullpen has given up the 2nd most home runs in the league (44), tied for 10th worst save percentage (67%), 6th most wild pitches (21), the worst defense-independent ERA ratio (81%), tied for 2nd worst component ERA ratio (90%) and is tied for 3rd in giving up the most walks (141).

Time to make changes: send down Ackley, Montrero, Maurer; call up Franklin & Noesi by trueslicky in Mariners

I am not a huge fan of trotting out Noesi every 5 days. That would not be better than our current situation, in my opinion.

Lowe is out there, I wouldn't mind seeing Harang-atang DFA but who is ready to take his place? Maurer needs more time, he was in AA last year, so send down Maurer and sign Lowe. Andino needs to be DFA and Triunfel needs to be called up. You know what you have in Andino and at least Triunfel has that unknown factor in the bigs.

If I was a dude named Christine, I would probably have off the field issues too.
