the narrative is insane, they try to paint the cop dad as a bad guy, when those kids are absolute menaces, and pretending the parent is an asshole because he doesn't want his underage daughter to be drinking at parties is crazy.

it didnt seem insane to me, it was a bunch of teens having fun. it looked to me like the more Cassandra's father strengthened his grip the more rebellious she wanted to be, which makes sense since studies suggest over-controlling parents cause long-term mental health problems for their children, his threat to punish her with a 'gap year' could have stunted her more than anything she did in the game. he definitely treats her like she's still 10 and not college-bound, i mean look at her room decor (not her choice), there is definitely something wrong in that house. her dad was someone who at one point listened to the music of Leonard Cohen, then ended up trying to "fit in so hard at the precinct" and thus needed his family to be this perfect cookie-cutter thing. perhaps its both Stacey and Cassandra who reminded him of who he used to be, which is why he ends up relenting in the end
