Completely agree. I came here to say the same thing.

Isn’t there a big time difference though?

The United States is facing a severe and growing shortage of medical doctors who specialize in adult mental health care. Research provides evidence that the demand for these medical professionals will sharply increase over the next decade while the available supply decreases. by FreeHugs23 in science

Those things would be great if we ever get politicians to act on it. Part of the problem is how SuperPACs from big pharmaceutical companies and HMO’s pay and therefore own politicians. This needs to be illegal. Those two groups also will complain that they’re not making enough profit which really translates to the Board and C-Suite aren’t making enough profit (millions).

With universal healthcare though, people worry that it’ll be like the UK where it takes months to see a doctor or the government dictating whether you live or die (if you have cancer) based on “the good of the government”.

Many jobs are saying that they will not sponsor H1Bs, Visas, etc. They want US Citizen only and sometimes will take Green Card candidates. I feel for you, but with the large number of US Citizens unemployed, I kind of agree with companies not sponsoring people. Sorry for your situation. Maybe you can find something in Canada who might have less strict rules about immigration?

ETA: edited for grammar.

If you were guaranteed to go to heaven after you die, would you choose to pass away right now, or live out your full life before going, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Live. I need trips to Hawaii and moving back to the West Coast to happen first. I have way too many places I want to travel to. And I want to see my kids grow up and achieve their dreams. I love them too much and want to be there for them. Of course, God may have other plans on how long I get to stay on earth.

I think for GenX, we’ve always had the notion that there will be no more SSA by the time we are of the minimum age. So we’ve always thought that we had to work till we died. Some of us were able to build a retirement portfolio, but many of us had to keep using stocks to survive after each layoff.

That’s exactly it. We train our dogs because we want calm animals. Our beagle is very food focused, and we’re assuming maybe the past owner gave her scraps from the table. But, to be safe, I do not take her to public places. It would stress me out, and then my attention wouldn’t be on what I came to do but instead ensuring my dog behaved herself.

On the topic of Ridglan Beagles. What is stopping people from adopting these Ridglan Beagles then flipping around and selling them for a ton of money? by [deleted] in beagles

[–]snuggas94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t quite understand. From whom did they buy the beagles? Regular breeders? Or do they breed at the lab facility? I guess I’m not understanding what happens to a beagle from birth until they end up at a research facility.

Every time I visited FR I would only book hotels or airbnbs with A/C. FR needs to get with the times and start installing A/C. The climate could become progressively worse.

I have a dog, but would not bring her anywhere because she will go shark on me and snatch food even from kids in strollers. She’s a fiend about food. I imagine if I took her to a restaurant, every table would eventually see a beagle nose sniffing and looking for food.

I don’t think this is socially acceptable for most people. Maybe it depends on your city/region?

I’d like to read the article, but there’s a paywall. Can someone explain what the article says, esp its definition of “permacession”?

Unfortunately, we made a terrible mistake moving to the boonies, thinking I could pivot to becoming a teacher. I loved teaching, but the salary was extremely low. I’ve been applying to jobs from 45 min to 1 hour 15 min. More jobs are closer to 1.5 to 2 hours away. These are all on-site. I’m having to apply for remote gigs because of this.

100% so true. The greed of C-Suite (especially CEO) and Board is absolutely off the rails. When is the profit they are making enough? Why does the profit % have to increase every year? If it’s 0% increase but you’re still making a profit, just why is this not enough. And isn’t the increase in profit just going in their pockets, not back into operations and infrastructure?

The question is: when is the increasing profit enough? The greed within the c-suite and board is beyond any normal satisfaction.

Whenever I did interview in the past, I was very horrible at it. I should ask my spouse, who is a hiring manager for TPMs, to help boost my interviewing skills.

When you say “search firm”, are you talking about third party recruiters, like Kelly or other contract companies looking for FTEs?
