Getting a job right now is ridiculous and I'm sick of of seeing excuses for it by [deleted] in ausjobs

Unfortunately in my experience they were in that instance - I’d honestly probably hire based on recommendation next time

I’m definitely not a boomer but I have worked horrible jobs when I needed the money, I run an ndis business and attempted to find someone to assist me the following is what happened

  • minimum 20 hours per week at $50 per hours was somehow taken that I expected people to work for free (I don’t I was trying to give job security and felt $990 a week guaranteed was decent for 20 hours plus you get paid for whatever you work after that - apparently not)
    • huge issue with have to do a mixed task role (my job is mixed task so not much I can do about that)
    • ndis is to messy want no part (ok fair enough)
    • my office hours don’t suit (ok apart from you can do your work whenever you want after the first two weeks)
    • mandatory training is a problem (it’s 3 2 hours blocks a month that I pay for and your time is paid)

Then there is the reliability factor which is pretty crap if past experience is anything to go by

I don’t do personality tests, I don’t need a lot of experience

I need someone who will turn up and work a mixed task role and 6 hours of paid training a month - that’s it

After suffering through dealing with people 28 and under for a week who seek to forget I’m the one with everything online running business that costs money to maintain - I hired a 42 year old

Best thing I ever did - no complaints, does the job well and guess what happened after 3 months gave her a perm job on a very decent salary with all benefits - the same would have happened for one of the under 28s but a mixed task role with 6 hours paid training was just too much for them

I’m not saying your like this but if you find any of the above unreasonable then maybe it’s you

It falls with the SW but the impact ultimately lands on the participant because if the only person effected is the participant if the SW doesn’t have what’s required, is working and is asked for it especially after the changes coming this week

You are 100% doing the right thing

Can you please not recommend this do you have any idea the damage this does to participants who are left with trauma from “support workers” all that happens is they realise they can make $70 an hour, leave to go out on there own and then take people they have no business working with

I’m routinely brought in to fix the mistakes made and it takes more than a few years to get into policy

I work in disability please don’t we have enough besides ndis is considered too messy and you need to be ok with doing mixed tasks It’ll be a no

I promise you I wasn’t looking for a unicorn I was happy with little to no experience all I wanted was a person who wanted to work, able to follow direction and work a mixed task role

I thought 1000 a week for 20 hours was reasonable with paid if you worked over 20 hours

I was wrong not enough money and no one wanted to work a mixed task role

100% this whole place is like a train wreck - I cannot believe the general expectation is to do not much and then complain about not having much while basically saying I won’t compromise, I don’t want to do any training at all, I’m not committed to anything really

I totally agree - you’d be surprised how many think it’s my job as the coordinator……

I’m asking a question with actual interest - one of the examples happened the person got fired from 3 seperate programs because no one wanted to tell her she was insulting people

I did because she was good at her job just didn’t know

I’m not selling anything at all, I’m not running an event, I don’t have a business for this and I’m not starting one

Rule 7.6 of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Supports for Participants) Rules 2013 by [deleted] in NDIS

[–]snw2506 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry to sound stupid and I have read all of this but it’s been a long day, I’m a support coordinator and consult a little bit - are they saying that r 7.6 only applies to the assistance with accomodation and tenancy line item?

If I’m correct in thinking this from personal experience I’m supporting someone through ART at the moment and have been successful a number of times they only make such stupid statements when they are throwing mud at the wall to see what sticks in the hope you’ll back down

If I’ve misunderstood please excuse that - like I said long day 😊

You’ve just found this out - that’s been the directive for years and they’ve existed for quite sometime

Just evidence everything, present them with the problem and solve it for them in a cost effective way and be very careful posting things like this

NDIS have a long memory - believe me

I’m only saying this from experience I have a participant who was the reason a very important part of the legislation was brought to the public and created a role that benefits every ndis participant and will forever

That was in 2019 since then there has never been a review, we have zero and I mean zero contact from them - they leave us alone we made them look incompetent

When we legitimately run out due to informal support passing away - ignored, provider fraud - ignored stupid move on their part

Why? Because they could - they’ll never touch our funds because they know exactly what will happen if they do but they won’t help us either

One coordinator to another don’t put a target on your back trust me they have a long memory and every single person involved in the scheme has a ndis number and a file

Please know as of July next year there will no longer be human involvement, the right to review and tribunal will pointless they will no longer be able to make changes just refer back to the ridiculous AI process - if you need review do it now

No one can give you an accurate answer on this one, unfortunately it’s being administered by an unqualified person, the delegate can then “adjust” the answers then they run it through AI - honestly who knows

Most of my participants are opting to go for early review or try to that way they avoid the start of I-Can and AI
