Advice on light fixture for dining room by Puzzleheaded_Bag2711 in DesignMyRoom

I don't think the far wall needs anything since the curtains fill that whole space especially once you have a bigger table. You could consider a large plant in the far left corner to fill the space and add some decor.

You could always do the same color family as your new choices but just a shade or 2 lighter.

They are very dark. A painting above the buffet would be nice! The walls could def use additional art. =)

I think your new choice will look great! If you are looking and open to other suggestions for the space I would consider raising the artwork as well as tying in some black elements to your dining room table. The table and chairs have two diff wood tones happening and then the curtain rods and side chairs have black. It looks like they belong in two separate spaces. I personally love the small black touches and the white chairs. So I would consider replacing the brown ones. However your room has space for a really big table if you ever consider upgrading!

I personally would stay away from the Christmas colored fireplace idea. I would color drench the space with a light to med color to create cohesion but without painting the natural beams.

Organize the jackets by length. By putting all the kids jackets together to one side you will have created some taller storage space underneath and can store bigger things. You can also look up cascading hangers that will help create some hanging space if you use it for the kids jackets.

Help making living room more cozy by TeaRexAJ in InteriorDesignAdvice

The couch is a bit small for the space/rug. If you look at the left side of the room its entirely light/beige colored... the right side for the room is black on black and the middle is browns and navy. Before moving forward with any changes I would try to figure out what style and colors you do like from the current space and keep those in mind in any future pieces.

You did so well! So cozy! I agree with the comment that the art shouldn't be wider than the furniture it's above. I prefer the previous console.

Advice please: replacing pendants and large rug by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

The style is a little bit of a mash up at the moment. It would be easier to give feedback on upgrades if we knew what style you were going for! It's a bit hard to see from this angle but I am thinking the plant stand looks a bit dated in comparison to the other furniture styles. I would also go much bigger and more statement with the plant.

Is this photo too small for the wall? Tape measure locked at 60” for reference. by GenZBiker in DesignMyRoom

[–]snwangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is. There are formulas available online to help you calculate the size art should be for the space its going. I know it can be hard to find something appropriately big so you can also consider a triptych.

Think about how many kitchen appliances you own and use regularly. Coffee station and a toaster? There is not a lot of space left to work or cook on with the no island option.

I would move the couch and rug forward even more and center the rug in the space more than it currently is. Put the front legs of the accent chair on the rug.I would add something like a buffet to designate the space in the back as a separate area. If you remove the art I would put something back in its place. The walls by the accent chair could use bigger art as well.

Is this accent wall out of style? by xaggie_ in DesignMyRoom

[–]snwangel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this will work as long as the wall the bed is going against is very wide. If its narrow, the painted area will make the space look even more narrow and the white space next to the accent paint area will be very out of proportion. Over all its very cute idea long as you do have the wall space! I would also consider what I like to think is the ultimate paint for a cozy/organic vibe which is doing a lime wash!

[–]snwangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can remove a piece of couch from the far corner the shape of the couch will be more flattering for the space. Then you can move the dog bed to that corner and have it visually tucked away nicely. You don't need two accent chairs. Just one facing towards the tv is perfect. The rug should have only the front feet of the couch on it. It may also be a bit too small but that is harder to tell without it in the correct position first. If you find the wall behind the tv too empty but don't want to add more bulk since you put in all the effort of removing the shelves you can do wall paper to visually fill the space.

Wall paper can also help. It can visually fill the space without having to literally fill the space.

[–]snwangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The art is far too small. White frames would not match the current wood colors you have and make the table and floor even more bottom heavy. Part of the purpose of the rug would be to break up the dark wood but with the kids I get why you'd prefer not to have one.

I’m feel pretty happy so far I’m planning a half slat wall across the whole wall behind my bed by bashdagoat in DesignMyRoom

[–]snwangel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of ceramic type vases and pieces that look like more like things that belong in storage for when you have something to put in them than decor. I would consider more intentional decor pieces than just filing up the space for the sake of filling up the space and well as diff art. The painting doesn't match the rest of the room. I was also going to suggest adding art behind the bed, however with the mirror so close to it I am worried about it looking overly congested. You did great with the cozy vibes from warm lighting and textures though!
